APC and ph

Thanks to original Poster "Sparkie" from 7/2007 :xyxthumbs:

I did a recent search and found this of interest. Here is the ph, as tested by Sparkie, of common APC:

Duragloss pH is 12.62
Megs pH is 12.80
Purple Power pH is 13.00
Simple Green 9.54
Distilled water pH is 6.92

It terms of these findings, Simple Green is the least Harsh.
Anything under 7 is on the acid side. Anything above 7 is on the alkalinity side.

"A pH of 7 is neutral, 0 is the most acidic pH rating, 14 is the most basic (alkaline/caustic) pH rating. The pH scale is a logarithmic scale. Each unit of change equals a "power of ten". A pH of 3 is actually 10 times more acidic than a pH of 4. Conversely, a pH of 13 is actually 10 times more alkaline than a pH of 12. Therefore, a pH of 13 is 10,000 times more alkaline/caustic than a pH of 9."

I'm assuming these measurements are taken at full concentration.

Many of the APCs we use are diluted to at least 3:1 which would bring the ph down.

Anyhow, since I availed myself of the OPC gallon bogo, I no longer need to worry about such details haha...

anything on the north side of "7" is basic not acidic so that is not why it etches aluminum

don't use it so can't say anything more
