Applying wax with DA?

Today was the first time I've tried this and I wonder if I used enough product. I used a GG with blue CCS pad and Liquid Souvern. From an AG 2oz sample bottle I used 1/4 inch out of the bottle. I used it on the S2K which is a pretty small car with no roof to do. It looked like everything was covered, I could see a whitish haze everywhere. It's just hard for me to believe that little product can cover that many square feet.
Another thing, as I overlapped my passes it looked like the pad was removing wax from the previous pass. When I got done with the hood it looked like spots of paint with no wax on it. Is this normal?
I'm just trying to learn this because it was a lot quicker than by hand and I used way less product. At this rate I can get 10 waxes out of a sample!

no doubt,with some liquid waxes you could always go thin thin twice to make sure you got coverage.just like the karate kid x2

The only way to spread sealants IMO. Real quick and easy. I hit everything, paint, glass, lights, most vinyl/plastic trim. Some waxes with a PC, except the buttery WOWO boutique waxes are still fun to spread by hand (even though I haven't done it for awhile. Swithed my cars to Sealants).

How much are you using? I was reluctant to try because I thought I would use too much, I thought that 5.5" pad would soak up a lot but it didn't. I only used about 1/4 oz. Much less than I use doing it by hand. My car is small though.

Sounds about right, i use no more than 10ml or 1/3oz for every appllication on a mid size mpv

You can do most of a car with a few of quarter sized dollops. I typically only add more product to the pad once or twice if ever that many.

I'm a machine guy too...

I really only like applying LSP's by machine, too many benefits when working by machine and too many drawbacks to work by hand...

Especially when working on anything large or anything you've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into...


Behemoth Machine Sealed
The DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant is a fairly thick product compared to other sealants...

After massaging the paint with this new sealant look out the sealant has spread out to cover the entire face of the pad, this happens with other machine applied paint care products too...

The sides were easy but the higher section required the use of the ladder and even a Skyjack Scissor Lift.

The Microfiber Gloves keep the wax clean until you place it back into the jar and enable you to grip the wax so it doesn't slip out of your hand and onto the floor...

It takes a little muscle to do this because in one hand you're holding the wax and the other hand is holding the polisher for the duration of time it takes to run the polisher over every square inch of the car. If you had a helper they could hold the wax with microfiber gloves on and you could use both hands to hold the polisher, then as you needed more wax your helper could apply the wax while you hold the polisher, otherwise hit the gym.


If you look carefully you can see I spelled out Dodo on the hood in my wax pattern...

In the forum world you'll often read people talking about getting the "Sun Shot" , that's where they pull their project car out into the sun to show there are no swirls in the paint.

The below shot is kind of like the "Sun Shot", but I call it the "Fun Shot" because I was just having some fun with the Dodo name in wax.

I used a rubberband to hold a Cobra Indigo Microfiber Bonnet over a 3" Griot's Garage Polishing Pad on a DA Polisher and took the wax off only where the word DODO was spelled out and then pulled the car into the sun for a "Fun Shot".
