Apps for Detailing Business?

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for managing my customers, business, etc. I started looking around for detailing specific apps to use, but haven't been able to find anything yet.

I've been a web developer for 15 years, and we have been doing apps for about 5 now. I'm highly considering doing an app specifically for our industry, that would feature stuff like estimating tools, customer management, supplies management, time tracking, calendar and billing integration, etc.

The integration with stuff like Square, intuit, etc. and snap calendar or the like is the hardest part, but it might be worth it.

Do you guys have any ideas as to current apps, and what you might want to include? We'd be a few months to build it, I'm sure, but it might be worthwhile if we can get a product out there that detailers could use. Unless there already is one that does a great job!

Any ideas?

I have been wanting to to the same thing. Whenever I do something for myself I try to design it to be used by other detailers. I haven't rolled anything out yet but hopefully I will soon enough.

I didn't find much when I was looking. I know filemaker well enough that I just created custom databases and linked them together. It would be nice to have an actual app though.:props:

There might be a way for us to collaborate, let's see how this plays out!

I dont think the app would need to handle payments since the stand alone ones are good for that. The one thing id like to see integrated is something along the lines of inventory management and expenses. If there was a way to integrate contact info and work orders together thatd be a gigantic plus in my book.

I don't think we'd do much payment integration, the data management side is a huge pain anyway. There are ways to be able to access a url (ie: your square payment console) from within the apps, so that's primarily what I was thinking, more of an ability to get to it easier than going and opening the square app. I'm not sure.

Inventory, job/service time, and expense management would be keys, integrating social networking stuff and customer management (push reminders to send a birthday note/email) etc.

I've been looking for something like this for years. unfortunately I have no experience building an app so I couldn't do it myself.

Wow that sounds like it would be extremely helpful.

Not sure how the whole app programing works but how about like a "tips" feature. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been on a job a nd been stumped by an issue. Having an area with solutions right on my phone would be a helpful tool

That's a good idea. It would be cool if we could do something like "sponsored by" tips where we could get different tips from different detailers from this site and others. For each article, we could place a link to the website of the author too. What way, you could have different ideas and tips.

Thanks!

If you could integrate with Contacts, create a checkbox derived invoice, and then have that invoice open up Square/Paypal and tender the purchase, that would be awesome. The key is being able to input a customer without having to input it into the Contacts database - new client, one time client - and be able to generate an invoice and then save the new client info as a new contact....

Just an idea :)

It would be awesome if you could integrate the calendar and reminders with the contact and payment option.

What I mean by that is at the time of check out you have the option of setting yourself up an automatic reminder for 3 months, 6 months or a year (depending on the customer's need) which would put them on the books (calendar) with a reminder for you to call or email or.... (in the reminder list). Having the contacts integrated it would populate the phone number and would pull the note/memo of the car(s).

Wanted to get an update on this potential awesomeness.
