I'd vote aquapel as well. Just be careful not to apply too thick and ensure you wipe off completely. 1st time I used it I ended up with some staining on the glass that was a real pain to remove.
Aquapel! Much easier to apply, lasts longer, beads better, and tastes better. (Not so sure on that last one.) Only catch is it's more expensive, but the improvement in overall experience is more than worth it.
Not sure how accurate it is, came from a windshield chip fixer set up at a jiffy lube a few years back who also offered to apply Aquapel. Anyway I was told by said person that Aquapel is also better than Rain-X for chip repairs because Rain-X was oil based or something and could interfere with chip repairs.
I have not used it, but you can pick up Stoner's Invisible Glass here or at a local parts store for cheap. That's what I use. A lot of people like (I mean a lot) Meguiar's Detailer Glass Cleaner Concentrate, but I have not tried it yet.
Hows the initial performance of aquapel vs rain-x. say for the first few weeks? It's so much more expensive, around 10 bucks for an aplication that will do the front window and two side windows. That means you need 2 to do a complete car. 20 bucks will buy several years worth of rain-x.
I seem to get a couple of months easy out of rain-x and if I have to apply it 3 times as often as aquapel it's no biggie if the performance is about the same.
Initial performance is outstanding. Cost may be a factor for some people but I find that Aquapel does not cause the rubber on wiper blades to break down like Rain-X. In my experiance Rain-x kills wipers! Also Aquapel reduces the need to clean your windshield and I find that it makes using your washer fluid to clean the window more effective. Aquapel also seems to allow dirt to shed easier where I have noticed Rain-X causes some clinging, I notice it most in the spring with pollen.
