Having noted the recent posts on sealing/polishing glass, I need counsel re: the above two products. Accepting fully a completely clean window to start with, I have quit using RainX due to a "smearyfilmness [zkeeper's dictionary] on windshields, even with clean glass and vigorous buffing. I would rather use nothing, [and have for the last few winters], instead of risking this film-smear. Am ready to try the Aquapel, but wondered if anyone has any tips, counsel on its use, or what I can expect for results. I just hate to get something on the windscreen and then find I have to bring it in and completely clay or polish it back off. I would just like the glass seasoned in such a way to repel watery ice and then be able to see out safely. Thanks for any help on this--the St.Louis area has a fair amount of wintery rainy and wet snow. :xyxthumbs:

I have used it with good success and it does last longer.
Be sure the glass is completely clean. Just follow the instructions and you should have good results.

I use both. I use aquapel on the wifes car and rain-x on my truck. Aquapel is plug and play(but you have to work fast). I get 4 months plus on it. I use rain-x on my truck, never had the film issue like others seem too. Put on, buff off. I wax once a month, do trim and glass while waiting for wax to haze. I like the repel of rain-x and the lasting off aquapel. Give aquapel a try.

Just applied Aquapel last week and still in the testing stage. Only had some drizzle a couple of days ago, not enough to form an opinion yet.

Keep in mind that ya just get enough to cover the windshield.

I have tried both as well. I like Aquapel alot more than Rain-X.

Anyone care to add their opinions of Rain Clear to the discussion?

Used rain-x for years with good results but never got much durability out of it. I've had aquapel on my car for a few months and it still seams to be pretty good. Aquapel was easy to apply and remove but the cost is kinda the downfall.

For Upstate New York winters the Aquapel did last longer than RainX
As stated above the price is the big factor.
I did pick up Aquapel at Harbor Freight for $6 but they have not had it in stock for a long time.

Rain Clear is HORRIBLE! Its a waste of time. I used to use it before I tried Rain-X. Rain-X is 10 times better than Rain Clear. And Aquapel lasts for months compared to Rain-X's couple weeks.

I am a huge fan of Aquapel. I put it on my mother in laws car and on the wifes mini van and it has made a huge difference. Sure there is an initial higher cost but it is way more effective in my opinion than Rain X. No smearing and not wiper blade chatter.

Thanks to all...great input. I will go ahead of course and try the A'pel and test it out. It goes on a new 128 BMW, so this should be interesting. Have a fine weekend....:xyxthumbs:

Diamondite has some nice glass products too. Aquapel is easy if you apply rapidly and wipe off immediately.

Diamondite shield works really well also and in the 4 month tests i have done with it and aquapel the diamondite seems to be holding up better. Both products are superior to Rain X but cost more .

I'm really interested in the Diamondite shield. I'm curious about what others that have used the product would say about it, and will it "fill" some really fine scratches on my windshield that I can't feel with my fingernail?

From the product description it says: "Because the tiny valleys are filled, even etched glass appears crystal clear. Water spots disappear and new spots are less likely. The treated surface repels chips, scratches, water, UV rays, pollution, and dust."

Sounds like it will, but I would like to hear what you guys that have used it say about it. This sounds like exactly what I need!!
