Are all orange degreasers the same?
•No.
•First:
-True "orange" degreasers will contain
some % of d-limonene...obtained from
different areas/sections of citruses.
-Following are the two main types of
"Orange" Cleaners, of which: has piqued
my interest over the years (~25, or so).
I.
•There are the
citrus oil-based
d-limonene cleaning products:
-made from the oil found in the oranges' peel
-they will not cause corrosion/rust.
II.
•There are the
citrus water-based
d-limonene cleaning products:
-made from the pulp and juice of the oranges
-they will be corrosive (citric acid)
I use Chemical Guys Orange degreaser,
and it has never failed me.
But it is $30/ gallon.
There is LA Orange degreaser at
the Dollar Store for $2/gallon.
•D-limonene/(orange) infused cleaning
products are intended to replace cleaning
products that contains ingredients deemed
to be: less acceptable as-being-as-"safe"
as d-limonene. Some of these ingredients
(chemicals) are: 2-Butoxyethanol, Sodium
Hydroxide, etc.
With that being said...
•The LATA Orange Degreaser contains a
"d-limonene blend"...a blend that contains
2-Butoxyethanol. It also contains some
Hydroxy Sodium. {OOOPS...Go figure!}
Price, IMO, is often not the best guideline
to use for the selection of products.
