I'm waiting, I'm waiting, need new toy NOW!!!!
Who's with me?! (I'm also excited about the Apron)
I own and have used both XC 3401 VRG and BO6040. IMHO (and of others that I have shown it to) BO6040 in forced mode (so we can compare apples to apples) is a pain in both the back and neck and everywhere else to use, especially when compared to Flex, due to reasons that have nothing to do with vibration so they would stay there even if vibration is completely eliminated. At the same time BO6040 did not offer me any proof of higher corrective ability than Flex, and it's corrective ability would have to be significantly higher, even higher than rotary's, for me to be willing to live with the "pain in the ..." I find BO6040 to be.I have used this setup over the last month or so and find that this machine has tremendous power maybe more than the Flex, has the option of changing from rotation to just plain DA ...
I am with you, as I too am in process of getting a new paint correction/polishing toyI'm waiting, I'm waiting, need new toy NOW!!!!

HI,
I don't want to hijack this thread but I do want to make all aware that we have just added a new adapter for this market segment of forced rotation DA machines, but at this time only for the Makita B06040. I have used this setup over the last month or so and find that this machine has tremendous power maybe more than the Flex, has the option of changing from rotation to just plain DA, and with our adapter system has less vibrations and lets you change to any pad size from 8in to 6in to 4in without ever changing the backing plate! Not to mention I belive that there is no backorder on the Makita B06040. Check out this post from a user!
(MUST SEE) Edge adapter for Makita BO6040 - Autopia Car Detailing Forum
Hi Aaron,
What are the updates on the Flex Edge adapter??
Nope, it wouldn't have been. Festool was flinging bps like UFOs on me on 5mm throw with 6800 OPMs, can you imagine what would Flex do with it at 8mm throw 9600 OPMs? By designing it the way they did they made whole mechanism more failure proof.Wouldn't it have been better if Flex designed their machine to have the direct drive gearing inside the machine and not on the BP??? :buffing:  Atleast then it would have made it possible to use different sizes of pads...I believe that's what Makita, Bosch and Festool have done. Aaron and I spoke about this last week at the MTE.
