Sorry this isn't a crazy in depth review and sorry the product worked so well and so fast all the tar was gone before I even thought of getting my phone or camera to take some pics. :dblthumb2:

I had my wheels off adjusting my coilovers today and noticed a few blobs and streaks of tar far inside the wheel well I managed to miss eleven months ago when I was forced to drive over freshly laid tar in a then two week old car (yeah I was pissed that day). I put a bit of ObliTARate on a rag and wiped over the tar and it was gone, vanished, no more, obliterated for sure haha. Eleven month old hardened on tar was no match for this stuff, very impressive. It came off with just a few rubs of the rag with hardly any pressure at all. I don't ever remember using a tar remover that effective before. I thought I might have to let it dwell or use a lot of it but for an eraser size blob of tar one close up spray on the rag making a concentrated wet area about the size of a half dollar on the rag was enough to get rid of it with a few wipes and continue on to take out all the little tar blobs and streaks around it.

For working on paint to be safe I'd spray a bit on the tar and a bit on the rag so it dissolves more before you attack it lessening the chance of any still hard bit marring the paint. Since I was working in a wheel well I was prepared to have to rub and only sprayed the rag since I was just cleaning little spots here and there but I hardly needed to rub at all.

I should also note I had used 1Z Einszett Anti-Insekt Bug and Tar Remover to remove the tar on my car eleven months ago when it first happened and it needed a lot more product, dwell time when sprayed on and more rubbing and wasn't anywhere near as effective as ObliTARate. It also had the advantage of dealing with fresh tar, not dried on nearly year old tar and still struggled with it a bit. Anti-Insekt is quite good on bugs though, for tar it's not as impressive.

If I find any more tar when I detail my truck in the next few days I'll be sure to take pics that time. Was too impressed with how easy it removed it on my car that the thought of pics for a review vanished with the tar.

Yeah the review was a bit of an after thought and by time I decided I should document it the bit of tar that I missed last time way in the back of the wheel well was long gone. I didn't expect it to be so effective to be honest. I've posted more in depth reviews on products with pics on other forums and forgot I haven't posted them here since AG didn't carry AF at the time.

The one thing I did realize with the reviews with pics, people look at the pics don't read the text then ask questions already answered in the review haha. So you can't win either way.

I am a fan of good visuals though so I'll check for more tar on other household vehicles to add some pics. I'll foreshadow what the photos will look like, they'll be real exciting one of tar, one of tar gone.

Found more tar hiding in a corner of a front wheel well (was working in the rear before and never checked over the front again for tar) so here's some visual aids to add to the thread.

I haven't used tarminator in quite a few years but from what I remember it's nearly as impressive but in aerosol form so you use more product if you're heavy fingered but it's also 1/2 the price. So for a pro needing a low cost good quality tar remover who can't upcharge customers to use pricer products tarminator would be the more cost effective choice. For an individual doing their own cars who only has a tar issue now and again where the added cost won't matter as much this stuff is very effective.

I no longer detail cars for a living, only do my own, friends and family so half the fun I have now is testing new products. Thus why the cost difference wasn't actually a factor in trying it Vs something more economical like tarminator. I've also been on a bit of an AF binge lately since I've been impressed with the stuff I've tried so far and have yet even more to test.

Thanks for the review, Has anyone tried this stuff on bugs yet? I have Car pro Tar-X and the first bottle I got was great stuff and am really impressed with it, its along the same product lines as obliterate. The issue I have is that the first bottle needs to be shaken once in awhile to mix it up. The new bottle I just received after shaken you can literally watch the chemicals separate and drop to the bottom on the bottle in seconds. I was reading the reviews on autogeek the other day and someone else wrote the exact same thing. I was going to buy the big refill size but i'm afraid now and possible want to try the obliterate instead.. Also the first bottle was more of a darker green compared to this new bottle which is lighter and looks more diluted? Anyone else have this issue? thanks.

I only used ObliTARate for tar removal, but I also bought Auto Finesse Citrus which I did use on bugs and other unidentifiable gunk on my trucks bumper, side skirts and in the wheel wells and it took care of that no problem. These were NY size bugs and not those miniature birds they have down in Florida which they call bugs I should note haha.

Thanks for the quick reply:props:, anyone else?

Are you going to do any other af reviews? I really like some of products I've gotten from them

I wonder how well Obliterate would work on taking off a dealer's decal (not the plastic stuff) off my car.
I've used Goo Gone and a heat gun and still am scraping like crazy just to get little chards off. I'm afraid I'm going to ruin my paint!
