Avi,

I understand the issues with CQ and the polymers in rinseless washes. My issue is that rinseless washing is so much faster and less bother than a wash and rinse with regular car shampoo, particularly since I have very hard water. So, can you come up with recommends on how to do a rinseless wash with current products or, better yet, create a compatible rinseless product for us?

Whats the reason you cant be using a rinseless on CQ? The way I understood what he was saying was to not wash the car with it before applying in fear it would interfere with the bonding.

To tell you the truth ...im old fashion guy. i believe in water.. best lubricant in the world!
these rinseless use so much polymers to soften the paint that using tap hard water is even better.
if you really want to make eco wash and fast , try the ironx soapgel system..
no need a full water bucket for the washing, only small amount of water to wash the sponge mitt , using 20ml of soapgel for the whole wash .. let it work for 3 min or so and rinse of.. no worry about hard water, wipe off as normal and you will get very cleaned car.
with the cquartz you will hardly have water drops left on the car.

see short video here how to use the IXSG:

Are you trying to say that using strait hard tap water has more lubricity than with a rinseless wash??? Sorry but I find that VERY hard to believe.

:iagree:
I am not comfortable using water alone as a rinseless wash. CQ or no CQ.

I'm with ya on this one D

I really have no idea what that video is supposed to show, lost me completely.

Have you considered Poorboy's Spray & Wipe?

What i meant is: for cquartz, its better to use tap water than using soaps which contain loads of polymers to "conditioner" the dirty/dusted paint surface and just cover the surface.

the soapgel video is to show how to use ironx soap gel. without diluting in water bucket the SG

Avi,

I found a way to do a pretty quick wash with regular car wash. I used Meg's Gold Class and instead of rinsing with the hose, I had a bucket with 2.5 gal of distilled water (actually water from my dehumidifier) and a couple 16 x 16 mf towels. Do a panel at a time, washing with the Gold Class and rinse off with the mf towels. Dry each panel immediately. I did the whole car in about 20 min. and only used 5 gallons.

I do understand your point that dissolved minerals do not materially affect the lubricity of water, but if hard water dries on a car it's a pain, and I like to avoid that.

It would still be nice if you came up with a compatible "QD" type spray that we could use between washings. The ReLoad says the car must be clean to use. I guess I could just wipe with distilled water but I'd really like something with some surfactants and lubricants.

Ill think about it,
though with reload coated on the surface you will hardly get any water drops after washing.. and if you have air pressure , air steam will dry the car without touching it too.

Is this because you feel the soaps will reduce the sheeting action of CQ or is there a hidden reason? I just can't imagine not using some kind of soap for the added lubricity while washing a car even with CQ on it.

who said not using soap?? the thread here was about rinseless wash.. so i said i believe in water rinsing.
soaps with surfactant additives will affect the water beading of cquartz, use simple soaps or shampoo it will enhance the water repellent effect and gloss.

Thanks Avi. Yes, I do agree that with ReLoad on most water just rolls right off. What still need is something for in-between regular washings - wiping off dust and pollen, bugs, dirt from a rainstorm when the rain dries on the car while I'm working, etc. So if you could come up with something for us I'm pretty sure it would be quite popular.

As far as washing, I'll follow your recommend of just a gentle regular car wash soap w/o all the fancy polymers. The panel by panel wash and rinse I just did is fast and simple enough to favorably compare with rinseless.

BTW, my wife just loves how slick and shiney the car is. She gets a ton of compliments.

I need a rinseless for cquartz, let's just answer that. I'm in an apt bldg and need a rinseless.....

This does not answer your Rinseless Question, but:

"CarPro Reset Intensive Car Shampoo is a specially formulated shampoo that is designed to gently release dirt and grime without damaging the underlying coating – ie: Cquartz..."

Meguiar's Gold Class is not easy to rinse off completely; even with free flowing water and the method you are describing does not seem well adapted to this quality.

You will be much happier using the same technique with Optimum No Rinse (ONR) diluted at 1oz per gallon.

This product can also be used as a Waterless Wash/Instant Detailer.
For this application, I suggest less dilution 8oz ONR : 2 Gallons Distilled Water
