After struggling with some tough luck early this summer, we spent the three week break in our schedule refining our program and validating it in weekly test sessions. The hard work and long hours paid big dividends this past weekend in Brainerd, MN at the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals. We were able to set the tone early in qualifying as we made our quickest and fastest run in competition, a 6.88 @ 200.78 mph to pace the field. After a first round win over recent Mile High Nationals winner Todd Patterson, we cruised through the next two elimination rounds to the final. In the final, we were able to bring home our Ninth NHRA National event “Wally” when perennial top ten finisher Arnie Martel redlighted, handing us back to back victories in Brainerd.
The latest victory puts us back in the thick of the NHRA World Championship points chase as we try to claim our third World Championship in the past five years. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going this weekend as we head to Topeka, KS for this weekend’s NHRA Lucas Oil series event.
