I picked up a new backing plate at Car Quest today when I returned some stuff that was wrong. After putting this 3M Hookit backing plate on my 7424, the hook and loop is backwards. The backing plate has the same part of the fastener material as the pads. My other backing plates have the stiff plastic hook on them, this has the loop. Is that common for 3M backing plates or did I just get a bad one? (Everything I have bought at this Car Quest has had to be returned so far). It is the only place in my city to buy any detailing supplies.

I am waiting on my order from them to be delivered. Guess I just have to wait
You might have to wait, but at least you'll get want you want and if you don't, AG will make it right.:buffing:

My fault, I just got impatient and wanted to try to fix this car. Just wait until my order arrives, if I miss the car show so what, always next year, right?

Why can't you use your old bc?

I just got this PC used off EBay, the plate that came with it is trash. Afraid it will blow apart and damage my car worse than it is. This paint job is bad enough without me gouging it.

Well I guess you will have to wait. Happy Detailing

All 3m Hookit II products are backwards, that is the hooks and loops are reversed from all other products. It's only the Hookit II products that are like that.
The other 3M plates and pads are "normal."

I did not notice it said hookit II but it does. Thanks! I now know what to look out for. I just saw hook and loop system and thought they were all the same.
THANKS!
