Backing Plate help needed

So I am thinking of getting this 6 in. Variable Speed Dual Action Polisher but every review says that I need to get a different backing plate. I want to get a 5in backing plate to use with 5.5in pads but when I went to go look at them on this site it was too confusing for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
