Backing Plate Loss of "Stick"

I used a 2-3/4" backing plate with a 4" foamed wool pad on my rotary this weekend. The plate and pad were brand new and worked great initially. But after a while the pad would fly off the plate. I tried other pads with the same result. Is there a way to restore the grip of the backing plate?
 
backing plate is a little small but if you try using less comp and also spray it as in where your working with some water it will help wool pads cut alot and when the comp gets to be tomuch on the pad it will grab like a exwife. ps the more you push down on the pad the more it grabs let the buffer do the work.
 
Yeah, I think I loaded the pad too much, and I may have overheated it. Is the backing plate garbage now? It won't hold a pad at all now.
 
Have you tried cleaning it up with some APC and a brush? If it's been over heated it's probably toast. Sometimes if the hooks get all covered in polish or compound, cleaning it will help. Can't have too many backing plates.
 
Tried cleaning it, but no improvement. Also noticed it is starting to separate. It's toast. Looks like another AG order is in my immediate future.

But lets be honest. Another order from AG is the part of detailing that we love the most haha. Its always fun when that package gets there. Open it, dig through the packing penuts, and wallah!

After getting these 3M backing plates

I can say that they perform better and run cooler than any other DA backing plates I have used, and I have gone through many!! I suggest that you spend a few extra dollars and get this 3M backing plate linked below. The holes in it will keep things cool and the yellow hook material on them holds pads very well. Anything 3M is designed with the professional in mind. There tools and accessories are bullet tough.

Oh shoot!!! I forgot you were using a rotary when you killed your backing plate...Well I tried...I still recommend the 3M backing plate for your PC style polisher though..
