backing plates for Griot's

Are there any issues using different size backing plates other than the 6" That comes with it. Also if any one can comment is it a better tool than the pc7424xp which I have.:buffing:
 
no problem at all, many (including myself) swapped out the 6" backing plate it came with and replaced it with a 5" DA backing plate to use (you can also get a 3"-3.5" DA backing plate to use 3"-4" pads as well) with 5"- 5.5" pads. if i were to buy a new DA, the pc7424xp would be my last choice and i would opt for the GG6 or megs G110v2 instead (JMO). otherwise, i would go to HF and pick up a DA which is only around $50-$60...
 
You can swap out to whichever BP you decide without issue. It is a very common thing to do.

One thing I always consider is using the same manufacturers plate to pads.
