Bare hand waxing on the car

Pj from Dodo loves to use his fingers to apply a soft wax to paint. I'd say if you have soft skin and you like it, do it. Not sure there is any advantage as in Mikes article above. If your hands are rough, than naturally you risk putting scratches in your paint.

But do not use a microfiber applicator, use foam.

I've seen MF gloves, I've foam mitts and foam finger applicators. Someone's needs to create foam glove applicator:) I don't follow Renny Doyle's advice (I should) but one other thing to consider. As Renny says, "If it's on you, it's in you." I don't think all waxes have "all natural" ingredients.

Mike's article/link pointed out one very cool benefit to hand applications wax, feeling particulates/debris between your hand and the paint. I recently was wetsanding out some orange peel (outdoors) and the wind blew some debris around. Some very light dust/sand blew on the damp paint and got between my paper and paint. Let's just say 2000 grit probably turned into 50-100 grit. I felt the sand roll across the paint and it was not a good feeling. Needless to say, I miss having a garage/shop to work in.

I've tried it, and found it wastes a lot of product, and lays down way too thick a layer for my liking.

If you have a machine, IMHO, it's the only way to apply LSP's.

It is if you like picking up and putting down the machine many, many times when you have to add more LSP:poke:
Huh? 3" pad on PC in one hand wax in the other, same as a hand application.

I did it a few times with Zymol Royale because the carnauba content is so high in that wax. Using my hands I was able to melt it by rubbing my hands together quickly and then apply it to my paint. Worth doing to try it but not my preferred method. I still hand apply on my CHallenger and machine apply pretty much everything else.

Just the thought of my hands lathered in car wax wouldn't be a wise choice.

Yup actually using hand is own preference either way also will do and the most impt is not harmful to the car
