Be aware on Active 2.0

I have to say commercial or hobby use doesn’t matter if something fails after 10 hours. I agree that 200 hours is 200 hours regardless of application. With that said I don’t blame active for having a different warranty take. Without an hour counter on the machine a pro detailer could easily rack up more than the 200 hours in a year.

On the website for the current model they mention a residential use warranty. However, they show an entire section about “listen to what the pros say” which at the very least implies it’s pro capable. They also repeatedly mention pro grade reliability.

I don’t fault active for having a separate commercial vs pro warranty but their website could very easily lead to someone getting the wrong idea. The difference needs to be stated explicitly not buried in the faq and telling you to “check the manual for more details”

All that aside why not try something like the ryobi car wash pressure washer. If it breaks it’s cheap to replace and locally available. It’s also very light.

I saw the active 2.0 and 3.0 yesterday. They were on a shelf at about chest height. I picked up the 2.0 and then went to pick up the 3.0 and thought at first that it was bolted down. Nope, it's just that heavy.

Post #10. I don't suggest it as it's against code but I do this will all my crap as I don't need the extra middleman in the middle.....generally for anything electric, I'm generally going to remove the factory cord and replace it with the length I need for the application. Whether it be 3 feet or 50 feet. It's generally going to generally a SEOOW as a general rule but I'll use a SJ or any -service- cord if the counter is out of SEOOW.

Since I'm swapping the cord, I'm going to omit the GFCI as part of this process. My read on #10 is just a pesky GFCI module

I am so out of the loop I thought active 2.0 was one of those girls that advertise on here

I'm still stewing over DFB, AKA the warranty police. If the shoe were on the other side and you purchased one right when they came out. And it was purely for a hobby and friends cars. Then that unit just stopped working after a month. When I called them and explained what the problem was, they only asked for a bill of sale and the serial number on the machine. They just sent me out a new unit. I was so blown away by how they handled it that I posted what great customer service I experienced! That unit was used for the same thing: hobby and occasionally friends. The unit lasted over a year, had less than 50 hours on it, and died exactly like the first one. I didn't even bother to call them since It was out of warranty, being over a year old. I just went ahead and bought a new one on March 22nd. I didn't start mobile detailing until June and used the machine for less than 10 hours. It died on me while I was doing a customer's car. Luckily, we had finished the wheels and tires, so I just hand-washed it. I called them and explained how it died, and it was my third unit that has done the exact same thing. Since I was honest and told her I’m using it for auto detailing, she right away said, "We don't cover commercial use." This made me furious! Then, to top it off, I got called out by the warranty police, telling me basically I'm a cheat and trying to take advantage of a company! That was the last thing I needed to hear, especially from one of our few regulars. This is when I blew my top and laid into him. Without using foul language, which is against protocol on most forums.

I didn't read all of the comments because it looked like things were going sideways but I'll chime in with my experience with Active's customer service department. My 2.0 was flawless until I sold it. I had no need for 3 pressure washers.

My original 2.3 did malfunction and would lose pressure after a minute and became virtually useless. I contacted the warranty department and based on the description of the problem they sent me a new middle pump and a video detailing how to install it. That didn't fix the issue. I then took a video of the issue as requested and then they sent me a second set of replacement parts with another video detailing installation. That too didn't resolve the issue and a third shipment of parts was sent to no avail. Finally, they sent a new unit but this entire process took 3 months. I paid $600 for my pressure washer and it took 3 months to get another working unit. When contrasted with Ryobi, they sent me to a local repair shop where a new unit was ordered with no questions asked. Two and a half weeks later I had a new unit delivered to my doorsteps. I know I'm not the only one that has experienced less than pristine customer support from Active. It's a shame because if they tightened up the QC and customer service they can be a real force in the detailing industry.

My apologies for my conduct in this thread, it wasn't called for and is a reflection of what's going on behind closed doors. Trust me, it will never happen again.

I hope it works out for you with regard to Active and now Max Flow.
