Hey all, here I’ll be testing to see whether or not Beadmaker attracts more or less dust on a panel over the course of a few days. I’ll be checking in with this vehicle and taking pics and posting the results, so lets find out how this turns out.

7/26/21 Test subject: All clean after a quick waterless wash using McKee’s N-914

I separated the hood into an unmistakable pattern using thick drying towels in order to prevent any cross contamination.

Taped down the towels

Now we’re ready to begin spraying

I sprayed a good amount of Beadmaker on this portion of the hood, at least 15 sprays.

Wiped it down…

We have a few streaks, but that’s ok, I’d rather just leave them be instead of trying to wipe them off and risk wiping away the product.

Remove the tape/towels, and we can see the difference between the sections.

It was kind of difficult to show the difference on camera, but this pic was able to capture it pretty well.

I separated the rest of the car, passenger side got Beadmaker, driver side didn’t.

During the 30min. or so after application, the Beadmaker side had noticeably less dust accumulated on it than the controlled panel, not enough to capture on camera, but my eyes noticed it. I wouldn’t consider it significant enough though.. Only time will tell as I continue checking in with this car over the next several days.

Nice, it could be weather/location dependent. Let's see if you end up with same results I had when I used dust maker, I mean bead maker.

I never had streaking issues though, that black mercedes looks way nicer in the spots w/o BM. The product always delivered gloss and slickness when I used it, it didn't last which is not a big deal to me. But the dust was a big deal and ultimately what made me get rid of it.

I think it had more to do with having limited space to wipedown and having to do it vertically on the hood. It didn’t leave streaks anywhere else on the car. I expect them to be gone today, but we’ll see when I check in with the car in a bit.

I wanted to make sure there was a substantial amount of Beadmaker on the panel in order to get definitive results for the test. Not just a couple of “spritz” here. Lol

In for this test. You took immediate action.

Never gonna use it but interested in test. Alot of folks say one way or other

I believe it has to be. I never experienced any excessive dust attraction with BM.

But there are enough rock-solid members on here that have, so I have zero reason to doubt them.

Perhaps also what the base LSP is makes a difference. I used it on a McKee’s coating that was on its way out. Since I was having issues with dust and pollen attraction I didn’t want to risk putting BM on my car which at the time had Gyeon Syncro on.

It's not a true test though.

Not until he uses each cat to buff the test spots............:laughing:

You do have a point. AG has the Chinchilla MF, maybe Ric needs to develop a line of MF’s. You know I’ll buy a few.

Ok so I went to check on the car not too long ago, so it’s been a full 24hrs. since application.

The hood looks normal enough, but this is in the shade.

The roof: There’s some dusty streaks going on the bare side, not really sure why that happened, because of that the Beadmaker side appears to be slightly cleaner here…

But… Once we get to the trunklid we start to see a definitive difference. Well, it would appear so far that indeed the Beadmaker side has collected more dust.

Almost hard to capture on camera, and for the most part it’s slight in person, but as you can see in that 1st photo of the trunklid, there is a difference.

I’ll check on the car tomorrow, hopefully I can get some shots of the hood in the sun.

Nice way to document it, also it would be interesting to see if during pollen season does the dusting issue increases on the BM half

Thanks for this thread

This is giving me so many ideas… I wonder if the owner would mind if I just use her Mercedes as a guiniea pig year round to test a bunch of different products?lol. J/k

But seriously, there’s a big difference between a test panel and an actual real life driving black vehicle.

Does Beadmaker have oils in it that can contribute to the “dust collection”?

5 day update: I went to see the car yesterday and here’s what it looked like. At 1st glance you can’t really tell..

But if you look closer, you can clearly see that the Beadmaker side has accumulated more dust.

Conclusion: The Beadmaker sides did collect more dust. Whether or not it’s a dealbreaker is debatable, for me it isn’t a dealbreaker because the difference in shine, darkening ability, slickness, hydrophobic water behavior, and overall protection makes up for the slight bit of increased dust.

Some might argue that the increased dust defeats any added shine. At the end of the day it’s your choice whether or not you like to use it or not.

I personally think using it or anything else as a drying aid and having it nearly ruin my drying towels is a bigger deal than this slight bit of dust, which is why I no longer use so called drying aids with my new towels..
