I, like some of you, have denigrated the use of toothpaste to clear up headlights that are hazed and need to be restored. I tried Crest (which is what we had available) on the headlights of our '99 Crown Vic last year just to see if it would help. It did not. Then I learned on here the correct way to restore headlights and they turned out great. I have done several headlights since then and all of them look 100% better.

Well last month we went to Maui with some of our family who live in Phoenix. We stayed with them for one night before we flew home the next day. My wife's cousin wanted to know if I could clean up the headlights on his truck. I didn't have any of my supplies nor did I have time to go buy any.

I thought well I'll try some toothpaste just so he would know I did attempt to do something. He brought out some toothpaste he had brought back from Poland on one of his business trips. I ask him to hand me a rag and some water and I went to work. Although the results were probably not the same as if I had done them using the correct products, the were much better than before. BTW, I think his truck is an '06 Silverado.

That toothpaste must make teeth glow!lol wonder how long the correction will last, especially in the Phoenix sun?...

Toothpaste is an abrasive just like a compound. The real issue is UV protectant. Once you get the headlights to where you want them at leay put wax or 303 with UV protection on them for more durability.

They do look significantly better.

I wondered the same thing. I talk to or see them regularly so I'll do a follow-up later, maybe 6-12 months.

I did the same to my audi, While it did not get all the stuff out, it helped alot and it made my lighters brighter

Now THAT must have taken some serious elbow grease! ;) Not bad at all if I say so.:xyxthumbs:

lol good work.

I wonder if you could get better results using toothpaste with a DA?

Good question. If he has more of that toothpaste left, I may ask him to send me a tube of it and I'll try it with my GG 3".
