Hey guys - Looking for a good canopy to be able to detail my pickup. Unfortunately it gets real hot around here and the sun is in the perfect position ALL DAY to prevent me from getting any real shade. That said, I am not sure what size will be big enough. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. Thanks!

I have a 10x10 ez-up nice but to small for my 150.

I've seen some people do two (2) 10x10 canopies, but I prefer something a bit bigger. I've been eyeing a 20x20 canopy with side walls. Amazon has them, and I believe I saw my local Menard's had one on sale the other week. Really, I think it comes down to what you need. I want something I can get my entire truck it, doors open, and still have enough room to move a cart around in, and get all of my tools in there.

Does it have to be portable?

If not get one of the huge, steel framed monsters that Costco sells. It's 12 feet wide and twenty feet long. And the lowest point of it is 8 feet high.

For sure get at least 12x12. Two 12x12's would be great if it isn't jacked up. EZ UP is among the best regarded brands.

I've gone through quite a few 10'x10' tents (legs breaks etc.)
I now have a Coleman 10'x10' that works great and is solid.
The "trick" I've found is the size of the thickness of the legs.
Again, like stated above it depends on the size of the truck.
I've done quite a few F-150's under the 10'x10' with no issues.

Thanks guys. It doesn't have to be portable per se because I am just using it for my own personal vehicles. I was looki at the one from Costco mentioned above, but they are not carrying them at the moment. I might have to wait until they bring them back because I really liked that one.

I thought about getting a canopy to work under when I do my truck to. But I guess I am concerned about the time it takes to put it up and take it down. If your not going to do a 4-6 hour job is it worth it to put it up?

If I did get one I thought about putting hooks in above above the garage door opening so I would only have two legs/supports.

I find it best to carry a allen wrench, plyers, and scew driver that fit my canopy. Then tighten them down every so often. They last longer snd bend less.

Check local bylaws before putting up a semi-permanent or non-portable one.

i get mine from califpalms.com
luckily they are local so I can pick them up
a 10x15x12 aluminum is around $600, the cheapest I've found for good quality

I use a couple of 10' x 12' canopies. No problem getting stock height full sized trucks & SUVs under them.

Been detailing 23 years in south fla, don't even waste you're money are you gonna lug and set that thing up for let's say 80.00 wax job time is money ,hate to turn down you're idea but at the end I'm saving you a headache you will buy it use it 5 times then you will put it in the attic.

Stock height what? 1/2 tons maybe.

I doubt if you could get a stock F250 4x4 under those. They're way taller than that Flex. F350 4x4 will even be taller.

Those pics are crazy to much energy to deal with that.

I've been detailing for more than 30 years now. Setting up a single canopy such as I use and adding the weights takes less than 10 minutes. I'll do that all day long. Doing any type of work under the sun isn't fun. We have just as much heat and humidity here in South Texas as any other gulf state.

Take the extra time .....

Lol. Who's comparing anything to a Flex height.

These canopies extend up to 11.5' interior height. I have had all makes of factory 4x4 trucks underneath without any clearance issues.

That comment bout a comparison to the Flex was a waste of your time .....

That's good.
...and until you mentioned they extend higher I was looking at those pictures thinking they're going to have to go higher than they are in that picture because a 3/4 4x4 wasn't going to make it.

No it wasn't. I learned something, so relax a bit.

I've been around numerous eze-up tents and I've yet to come across one that someone had that a truck would fit under...at least the 10x10 and 12x12 sizes I've used. The particular ones I've used were extended all the way up and there was no way you'd get a new 1/2 ton Ford 4x4 under them.

Yours sound like the Quick Shades are different. I had never heard of them.

EDIT:
I was also looking and comparing this picture.

Clearly, no new stock F250 4x4 or F350 4x4 will go underneath those tents either, unless they too extend further. It doesn't even look like the new F150 4x4 will go either, because they're as tall as that van. No one said they would extend more that I read.

...as well as going by some other comments.
I purchased the Ironton 10x10 canopy from Northern Tool for $70; I cannot get my F150 4x4 under the canopy (misses by ~6 inches). I can get my Ranger, Edge, Passat, Accord under the tent.
