Hi,

I finally got to wash my new truck yesterday and it was a challenge doing the roof and hood with a mitt. I’ve never used a wash brush and was wondering does any company make something that won’t scratch my new paint.

the cost doesn’t concern me being it’s a $80k truck, I just can’t keep using a broom handle attached to my mitt:laughing:

thanks🙂

Griot's Garage sells an entire handle/extension/brush combo

I have the same problem washing my lifted FJ Cruiser. I have both a work platform to stand on, and a wash mitt on an extend able pole, like the one below. This is from a site here in Australia, but there will be something similar over there. I'd steer clear of brushes, the mitts are much better, and you can get refills. View attachment 74381

I have one similar for the roof of my Jeep.

I've had mine over 5 years, the thread on the end of the extension pole broke off, I then realised it's the same thread on paint rollers, so I bought a replacement pole for less than $10. I can't get fitted replacement mitts for it any more either, so I just put a normal noodle mitt over the end, works just fine.

I use the Griots combo on my truck, my truck only cost $60k so hopefully works on yours

Check out the Griot's wash mop mentioned above.

It uses removable Microfiber heads.

I love mine. Still going strong on season 5........

Would you have a direct link? Do I just dump it In the bucket like a wash mitt and start scrubbing. I’m learning from scratch again about washing & detailing cars. We didn’t even have foam cannons back then.

Carrand makes one for less than $20. It's sold at various places. Probably not as good as the griots, though. But, it's decent.

Microfiber Madness makes some really good wash media including pads on sticks.

My truck was only 40k but I still wanted to take care of paint. Bought a boars hair brush from AG and a nice telescoping pole from Home Depot because the one that came with it was garbage. Anyway soak the brush in your wash media while you clean your wheels and tires and you're good to go. No factor.

I can open the back door on the FJ, but I can only reach half the roof by hand. I need the extension pole with the mitt to reach the front half.

Totally get that... I think that's when the telescoping brush/mitt comes into play.
