The Mrs has a dark red/maroon Ford Explorer that looks amazing when detailed. I myself have only owned silver or white vehicles so I've never had the pleasure and/or curse of working on red. My question is...... is there a good last step product that would be great specifically for maroon? I typically just use Meguiars Ultimate Wax or Yellow. But if someone tells me there's better, like ceramic, I am game

Sorry I keep coming back to these two! LOL

Can't help it, there's tons of great products here, I think about 0% duds.

But here's two I like, so do many others. They're both the Crème De La Crème.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0
This one is great on any color, but really pops exceptionally on darker colors. Not sure if you like such, as some don't, but this product gives very hard crisp and sharp reflections, dripping wet candy apple like high gloss.

It must cure to the paint for about 40-45 minutes before removal, and needs 12 hours to fully cure before exposure to moisture such as washings, or rain-snow.

This is a product that wows immediately after wipe off, but after a few hours gives an even greater stop and stare gloss. Topped with a product like Pinnacle Crystal Mist Spray Detailer 12 or so hours later, be prepared to have your jaw hit the floor.

Another great hallmark product, Collinite #845 Liquid Insulator Wax. This one possesses a slightly "warmer" look, but with great depth in appearance.

It is a hybrid product, meaning protective ingredients are both Carnauba Wax, and Polymer Sealants combined for a long lasting 1-2 punch.

The paint takes on a quite hard shell feel to it, a pint bottle will give you well over a dozen applications, is relatively inexpensive, a little goes a long way, tremendous bang for the dollar, a very good long lasting product that won't be washing off after a few washes.

Again, looks great on any color, but will give an outstanding foot deep look to darker colors as well.

You can't go wrong with either.

Nor basically any other Autogeek House Brands featured here.

Back in November 2017 (I think) did our owners Ruby Red Metallic Explorer in a glass/ceramic coating. Really like this particular coating on red metallics, kinda a molten-glass look. Still was looking great when he traded it in last week...

Going with a PBMG product, My vote would be for WDGPS. It works wonders!

EXACTLY what I'm going for. Thanks! With deep red I like the wet paint look

On my wife's maroon metallic Highlander I've received a lot of compliments after using Collinite 845 sealant or CQuartz UK coating.

Powerlock always looked good on red to me. WG Fuzion also looks good on red.

I've used Menzerna Powerlock as well some years back in New Mexico.

Honestly, I thought Powerlock and Wolfgang WGDGPS 3.0 were virtually almost the same product! A slight difference in Color, WGDGPS being a bright yellow, and if memory serves me correctly, Menzerna Powerlock was a sort of pale Lime Green.

They both may be formulated out of the same manufacturing Plant.

Both smelled about the same, same consistency, both worked very similar in basically all regards, but oddly, I still gave the nod to Wolfgang.

They practically are in terms of results and behavior on paint. They are a crowd pleaser for sure.

WGDGPS is in place of a carnuba wax? You would not do both? My thought is wash, clay, Megs Ultimate Compound, then finish with WGDGPS and be done

Replying rather late to this but: It is all in the prep. I do a two step with fast correcting cream followed by perfecting cream. I then use the griots garage finishing sealant and top it with either s100 or beadmaker. It will really just POP. I have a 05' Yukon XL in sport red. Beautiful car when she's clean. Also, poorboys makes a red wax that looks great as a topper over the sealant as well. Cheers
