like the title states. I'm looking for a retractable extension cord reel. preferably 14 AWG with single female plug. also 30' would be better (this is in a two car garage). I'm thinking 50 footers would be harder to rewind. looking at all the reviews & what's available is time consuming. Reel Works unit's look good to me but they're on a 3 to 5 month shipping wait

. the only two I've come up with are the zilla reel($120) & Goodyear($140). they both have a 5' lead wire helping with placement. wasn't looking to spend over a $100 but don't want junk either. so just wondering what everyone else is using ? thanks.

I use the Zilla and love it! High quality!

Subscribed! I, too, am looking for the same thing.

I look at my business expenditures 2 different ways. This purchase falls into the category of "need more durability for long term use" and i usually pay for quality once instead of replacing crap more frequently. From my online searches recently i came across the Zilla unit Jeremy uses. Glad to see that one mentioned here.

I also want at least a dual female end as I want more than one tool ready to go.

I'm the same way. I get quality stuff right away. Did extensive research and the Zilla is what I was led to. No regrets. Mine is the 50ft.

Thanks Jeremy! 30 foot cord plus my HD 20' cord on my Flex gives me 50!

Sams Club has the zilla reel for $89.99 online only.

Seems like a decent price for what appears to be a high quality necessity.

I hate manually reeling extension cords. Over the course of 5 years you probably get your money back on time saved not having to manually reel the cord:)

Jeremy
is yours 14 or 12 awg ?

Paul
the reels are 50 footers.

thanks, Carlo

That's even better, Carlo! Thanks for the correction.

Weird the boxes has 13amp max

15 amp derated is 13 amps...
Can't recall exactly but a polisher draws around 7-8 amps....

Personally, I prefer quality SJOOW jacketed cord for this application, but that's just a bit like detailing - OCD details on my part

well I pulled the trigger on the zilla. LEDetailing thanks for the tip on Sams club but I'm not a member. they were going charge me tax & 10% for not being a member. I went with ToolTopia which came out to $104.00 to my driveway. thanks everyone for your input.

You will be very happy with it! Congrats on the new equipment!

well got my zilla reel can't believe how quick it came. got it all installed & I'm really liking it. seems like a great piece so far.

I bought a 30ft retractable from Home Depot and hung it in the center of the garage next to my door opener. I then used a couple carbiner clips and fastened them directly across, one on each side of the garage, from the supports that hold up my garage door track. This enables me to run the cord over top well above even the tallest SUV and down the side of the garage wall.

It's plenty long enough to reach all corners of the garage and combined with the cord on my buffer long enough that I don't find myself having to do anything more than just move from one side to the other. Hassle free and it is quality stuff.

I've highlighted them in an existing pic if it helps.
