Best OPC pre-wash technique?

I recently got myself some Optimum Power Clean to use as a pre-wash/bee poo remover.

I've diluted it 3:1 and put it in a spray bottle.

I just want to know if I should wet the car down first before applying or should I spray it on dry paint, THEN hose the car off before washing?

The problem I have is when I wet the car down, I can't see where the bee poo is anymore!

I'm just concerned about it drying on the paint if the car's not wet.

Also, if I do apply the OPC liberally to dry paint, will there be enough lubrication to agitate the more stubborn stains without instilling scratches in the black paint?

It may sound picky but I'd prefer to do it right

You realize that's a pretty aggressive method and will have an effect on your LSP?

Yes I realise that, but washing alone never removed all the crap on the paint. I won't do it every time but I don't mind re-waxing either...

I'm hoping once I can get the majority of the spots off, I can use other "maintenance" products in between doing a full strip.

I just want to make sure I'm using the OPC in the best possible way.

Probably safer to wet the whole car, and wash the whole car with the OPC. Or, if you really need to concentrate on the poo, work in small sections dry, then rinse right after you agitate the section so it doesn't dry.

Or you could just clay the car to remove the contaminants.

I don't think Tar-X is going to be any gentler on LSP's.
