Newbie here . . .

Looking for suggestions/opinions about polishes/waxes for a white car. I own a 1991 Honda Accord and have always taken good care of it, but, with the South Florida sun, I've gotten oxidation/water etchings and of course, the infamous swirls. Recently, I used Meg's products (#4, #80, #83 & NXT wax), but am not satisfied with the results. I still have some haze as well as oxidation on the hood & roof. Can't seem to bring out a glossy shine. BTW, I've been using a rotary & my hands for applying/removing.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I like the optimum line Polish and compund, and i would suggest a sealent i like the looks on white and silver cars that are hard to bing to the next level i would go with EX-P and for a wax Nattys Paste Wax

Duragloss #105 TPP!!!

It's been mentioned now many many times. Here are some threads:

And my own experience:

That looks great white's so hard to take to the next lvl but you seem to have done it!

I've only used the XMT line and I'm quite pleased with it. Two things though. First, I've never used it on a rotary, so I'm not sure how it will function for you. Second, sounds to me like you got some major corrections to do so I'm not sure how the XMT line up will hold up for you....actually now that I think about it should do okay. I did my Volvo that was in really bad shape, just like what you described with your vehicle. Well to make a long story short, I got rid of all the water etching and about 95% of all swirls/scratches on it....keep in mind I used only the PC.

I've also heard that Optimum is quite good and has a long breaking time so it should work well with a rotary.

I just never tried the XMT line up in a rotary, that's all. Maybe others can chime in and give some feed back.

Not sure its the products; I have great success with #80 and #83 on any color.

Any polish will work, and we will all vouch for all the polishes here, but I like Optimum polishes. Allows long working times, direct sunlight work, and I can mix OC and #83 for an extended working period. (#83 on 'roids)

For past wax, I'd look at Sig Series II, NB or Souveran. I won a can of Souveran last month, and this wax is simply amazing.

For liquid, Liquid Souveran is the best way to go.

Sealants; there's quite a few out there, and have had really good luck with DP's Premium Sealant, WGDGS, and #21.

Here's my white car. Started wit OC, DP's FG, DP's Premium Sealant, WGDGS, Sig Series II, and LS. Topped regularly with Pinnacle Crystal Mist, the old formula.

I agree with the XMT line, but I can also attest to Pinnacle's Sig. Series II working magic...

Dan bambo those are sweet pictures....I really like the second one. Sweet!!

I like Natty's Blue on my white truck, sit my truck next to another white one with a sealant and you can tell my truck doesn't have the bright "pop", but more a deeper, wetter and darker glow to it.

Thanks so much for all the FANTASTIC suggestions!!!

Now, if So. Florida would only get some heavy rain to reduce the water restrictions. Makes it tough to detail when we can only wash our cars between 5 & 7 in the evening, or, on our designated lawn watering mornings.

In the meantime, I'll place my order with Autogeek and then do a rain dance!

Not if you use a hose with a on/off. You can do it anytime during the day as long as you can shut off the valve. At least that's how it is in Orlando.

Huh? We still have water restrictions here? I only remember the time about a two years ago or so when we had like a drought and the water restrictions were put into place, I remember getting actual notices to the house. We have 6 vehicles and I have no trouble washing at any time?

Until Florida goes under, we will ALWAYS have water restrictions. We are currently just over 12" under rain for the year already (in Orlando). As long as you have a hose attachment or on/off valve, you can wash your vehicle anytime you want.

i have a pearl white audi a4, and my brother has a white mercury capri. so far on whites ive had best luck with sealants rather than waxes. Poorboys EX-P looks really awesome on whites. gives it a really crisp reflection.

I've used Klasse AIO was and Klasse Sealant Glaze in the past and top that with P21S carnauba wax.Im really happy with the result. IMO, for lighter color cars like yours, you may want to get a synthetic wax. They are much better than carnauba wax plus it gives you a longer protection. Carnauba wax are better for darker colors, but you can always top your synthetic wax with carnauba was for a much deep and wet color.

Follow-up question . . .

Since I have used the Meg's products recently (LSP was Meg's NXT liquid wax), in order to apply either DG 105 or another suggested sealant/wax, do I need to use a cleaner to remove the Meg's products, or can I simply wash the car with say, Meg's Gold Class Car Soap, then apply either 105 or a sealant?

BTW, I ordered the 105, and a few other suggested products from this thread and hopefully, I'll get the results I'm looking for. Again, thanks for all the input.

Final polish, or Klasse AIO will do.
