I just bought new emblems to replace the ones I put on about 3yrs. ago. I’m not happy with their inability to withstand UV rays/the color on them has faded to where it’s something I notice.

I’m looking to apply protection to this new set. I already have something in mind, but I’m wanting to see what the consensus has to say. What would you use?

I don’t know anything that would protect them against UV if you’re in a high UV environment like here in Florida or Arizona… I would just forget about protecting them and replace them every three years…

Or a car cover when being stored out in the UV like when you’re at work…

Wait, didn’t you just say this?lol.

Use 2k clearcoat—-tough stuff….

Hahaha, i thought of clear coating but do ya think youd be able to do a thourgh enoigh scuff job for the clear to adhear? And i wonder if it would dull the chrome parts

Good points, that’s why I’ve got an extra emblem to practice on.The practice emblem isn’t brand new, it’s at the beginning stages of fading, but it should be able to serve as guiniea pig if I need to test. As far as scuffing, I’m not planning on scuffing when I test that method. But that’s not my 1st choice.

2k clearcoat for Wheels has nothing to do with UV, it’s just a protection against road debris and hits…

I was thinking about the 1 for headlights. More specifically the Meguiars Headlight Coating.

But this isn’t my #1 choice, but I do want UV protection which is why I’m considering it.

CK Dlux may be a good option. Works really well at keeping plastic trim looking good. Not sure if it would help on your situation but may be worth a shot if you have an open bottle laying around.

I think it’ll be down to Dlux vs. Gyeon Rim. I’d be trying it for the 1st time so it’ll be a new purchase. It’s just down to what people have to say about them. I’m hoping to get some more replies.

A ceramic coating should offer plenty of protection for your Cadillac emblems.

The answer (of course) is to cover them with black tape, Ric.

Come on, man.........

No dude, it’s not fair. Look what the sun did to my emblem.

Now I know this is partly due to these emblems not being OEM, but there’s no effin way you’ll see me paying what the originals cost.
