What's the best quick detailer you've found for BLACK cars. I had the first iteration of the turtle wax one. There's a new one by them under Jet Black. Currently using the surf city garage one. Any preferences? Any in store stuff?

No QD for black, use only when clean. Meaning either wet it down with a waterless/rinseless wash or if it's dirty, do a traditional two bucket wash. Unless you only want it to look good from 10ft. away. QD on black = swirls.

I use Megs Ultimate QD on my black Camry but only as a final touch up after drying.

Ultima waterless wash plus is my choice taking Rsurfer's comment into consideration. It the vehicle is prestine.... Pinnacle's offering works great without streaking.

I only use QD when drying car after washing. As mentioned, if use when there's dust on car, you risk swirls/micro-marring paint. More on what causes swirls here What Causes Swirl Marks? | Ask a Pro Blog

On my black Audi, I use Chemical Guys Extreme Synthetic Acrylic Detailer 16 oz.

I spray Chemical Guys V7 Optical Select High Gloss Spray Sealant Detailer on The Guzzler Combo Kit (so not applying dry towel to surface).

After QD, I'll apply spray sealant to car...either Chemical Guys V7 Optical Select High Gloss Spray Sealant Detailer or BLACKFIRE Deep Gloss Spray Sealant, spray wax, paint sealant spray.

Used Meguiars Gold Class QD but since I use it quite often i decided to by M135 in gallon. Next time I think I'll go for Final touch instead (diluted 1:1). Didn't experience any big difference. And the hydrophobic properties is good enough in GCQD if applied often i.e. 1-3 times a week.

The problem with applying a spray sealant over a just QD paint, is that the sealant will bond to the QD which will wash away quickly. If you must use a drying aid, use the same spray sealant when dry. Most spray sealants will work as a drying aid.

Makes sense, thanks.

After ONR I like either Poorboys QD+ or Crystal Mist. I was disappointed with the CGV7 except for glass.
Right now on a base of BlackLight topped with BlackIce.
Crystal Mist on top of that is pretty amazing, helped get me "Peoples Choice" and "Best Of Show" at my last appearance in a field of 100 or so mainly black cars with 11 year old paint.

I hear you on the swirls. Between winter etc I really need to have the paint corrected. Swirls, clear coat scratches etc everywhere. I don't think it's something I can do by hand. I have megs ultimate and blackfire wet diamond but no DA. I wash with the two bucket method. Since the paint is so messed maybe I'll just pay a prob(though I don't want to spend a ton). I'll stay away from QD unless freshly washed I guess.

QD on black/And Low grade MF towels (I have switched back to 100% white Cotton and Zaino Border free blondes) = swirls.

My Marauder's clear coat has the hardness of frozen butter, look at it wrong and it has micro marring. I stopped using MF on it altogether, I save them for interior and door jamb duty.

When I had black cars, I used Optimum No Rinse diluted to Quick Detailer strength for touching up lower panels that see the most dirt. I would then finish off with a nice QD like Meguiars Gold Class , Chemical Guys Speed Wipe, CG Hybrod V07. Just use nice plush towels and apply no real pressure. Contrary to previous posts, you can use QD on black. It's all about technique.

•Meguiar's:
-UQD/M135;
-Final Inspection M34;
-Last Touch D155
•Finish Kare #425
•Duragloss FC&S Detail Spray #921

On my black VW I only use QD as a touch-up after a wash. I'll use the basic Meguiars QD spray.

If the car has a light dusting I'll use a waterless wash product and plush MF towels. If the dusting is moderate or worse, I break out the buckets in the warm months or head to a touchless wash in the dead of winter.

Megs Ultimate QD here. Never had an issue even in the direct sun (I know a taboo) when I had no other option. Works great on my Taurus.

Pinnacle XMT Spray Wax is great. It applies as easily as many detailers. The key is to mist it on and buff off. It is really adds a crisp reflection to the paint.

After a full wash or DP Rinse less wash I use the Duragloss 951 on both my black RAV4 and red Mirage.
Doesn't get any better than that IMO.
Meg's QD is another one that works great on black.

The longer I own a black car, the softer my touch has become.

Growing up, you are always told by Dad to "use some elbow grease"

With todays Microfiber & Detail Product Technology, elbow grease is best left in the tube.
