Hello! I'm the wife of a mobile auto detailer. My husband owns and operates a small business here in Bloomington, IN called D's Detailing Services LLC. where he travels to customers to detail their vehicles, boats, trucks, you name it. He does not own or rent a garage space so he completely depends on traveling to the customer or bringing the customer's vehicle to an outdoor location. We are both reviewing the company growth over the past year or so and have seen a huge standstill in profitability in our location given that it's a college town and there isn't a high demand for his work or a culture for it. We are looking at areas like California, South Carolina and Florida to move the business. He really wants to be somewhere where the weather is warm all year round for business and where there is a high demand for detailing especially with boats. Most of our family live in IN so the thought of moving to Cali scares me being so far away from them and given the expensive living costs since we are still in the beginning stage of trying to get our business off the ground. I'm here to listen to your comments and advice. Which state would you live in for boat detailing to help increase profit for business? Thank you!!

The state income tax and cost of living in California should scare you more than anything. Down here in Florida we have lots of water, two coasts, thousands of lakes and millions of boats and no state income tax.

This.

Year round weather & work makes Florida the only choice and what custmsprty said as well are added pluses.

Florida would be my choice, too. But the Savannah area of Georgia is nice. Plenty of money and boats.

ssshhhhhhh. Everybody will want to come here.

So you're thinking about moving?

Then...How about one of the
"City-States" of Greece...such as:
-Athens
-Ionian Islands
-Macedonia
-Crete

{There's the Onassis bloodline, et al.}

You never fail to make a fun post to read LOL

I live in California nearby the beach and there's boats everywhere. However, the cost of living is ridiculous. Cost of rent for my one bedroom apartment is $1600. But the sun shines just about everyday and the weathe is great for a detailer. While I do detail mainly as a hobby and charge accordingly, my main source of income comes from being an electrical engineer.
