Hello all,

I just used Meguiars Hot Shine Foam the other day and it left my tires with a white/bluish tint. I also read that it isn't the greatest for overall health of the tire over the long term. What I'm looking for is a quality, long lasting tire shine (preferably sold in a kit) that you guys recommend. I was looking into the TUF SHINE kit but it looks like it may produce a very matte finish. I'm not really looking for super glossy but I'd like a nice wet look that lasts. Casual detailer as well, not looking to spend a ton.

Thank you.

Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel, get a foam applicator pad and rub it in generously. I've not seen anything better on my tyres and I have tried a few.

Tip, you can go over them with several layers to deepen the gloss effect

Tuf Shine Tire Clearcoat. Bit of work initially but worth it after.

Can control gloss level by number of coats used.

Did my wheels with Gyeon Rim at same time now cleaning wheels and tires involves spraying with hose, then drying. No chemicals, no brake dust, no dirty rags or applicators, no slinging tire dressings

If you're looking for extremely wet looking tires, then you'd probably be hard pressed finding anything better than Meg's Endurance Gel. But it is greasy, attracts dirt-dust, and may sling as well if put on too liberally.

Also, I believe much of the majority of big box store products usually have petrol carriers in them, and are not water based.

I've found products such as Optimum Tire Shine, and their Opti-Bond Gel are very nice, Carpro's PERL another nice dressing also, and doubtful you'll ever go wrong with any of the PBMG House Brands such as Pinnacle, Wolfgang, Blackfire, or McKee's.

Those I mention above will not be as durable as a Tire "Coating", but the products I mention above will all also be much friendlier to your rubber.

Carpro PERL is great as a tire shine. If you like the wet glossy look, three thin layers works great. Or more or less if you already like the look of the tires. I didn't bother diluting it at all, just straight application.

I found that petroleum based tire treatments become like black grease and destroy my tire scrub brush and applicator foam the following car wash. Does PERL do this or is it water based?

Chemical Guys VRP...water-based....can control the amount of shine easily

I've tried a few and settled with Carpro Perl (undiluted) gives it a nice gloss black look without the extra wet look, after first few days that gloss goes away but it still stays nice and black. 2nd on my list would be the CG VRP but it doesn't last as long as the PERL IMO.

I was using Megs Endurance Tire Gel (still have half of it left). But I was looking for a product that is not just a tire dressing but also a tire and rubber protectant so I bought the Gyeon Tire and Beasley's Tire dressing both of which fit the bill.

You can make Gyeon Tire look glossy if you applied a couple of coats. Nice product and easy to apply. Dr Beasley's is more satin than gloss but it has the rubber moisturizer as well as UV protection.

I am not sure about Megs Endurance Tire Gel whether it has UV inhibitors and rubber rejuvenator and those two are important to me than the gloss effect. Tires die a premature death here thanks to the extreme heat and off the charts UV index.

Another thing I particularly don't like about Megs Endurance Tire gel is its very slimy and washing off the applicator after can be a mess. But it is a decent product for the money.

Another product I haven't tried but would like to is Nanolex.

I like how long the Tuf Shine coating lasts. The kit contains one of the best tire cleaners and brush I have used. Here is a picture of mine after three months right after I cleaned my rims. I have 2 coats on the tires. My rims are also coated with WG Uber coating. As is my whole car.

That looks amazing after three months. Love the matt finish. How long does Tuff Shine usually last?
How many applications out of the kit?

The question for the op is whether or not he is looking into a tire gel or tire coating.

On a side note DP Tire Coating (now McKee's 37) gets my vote. DP lasts about 3 months for me before it needs another application. As much as I like the TW coating, I don't like the purplish hue it gives my tires. It's too early for me to comment on Gyeon tire coating and it's durability.

For a regular tire gel Blackfire Total Eclipse, Pinnacle Black Onyx and Opti Bond are a few of my favorites that work well and last a few weeks.

I don't really know. This is the 1st car I have used it on and just added another coat last week after 4.5 months because I had a little scrubbed off my front right. I would guess 6 months with just gentle washing. Prior to adding the coat I washed with Reset to get clean and hope it was enough to let it adhere well.

Here is a picture of the offending tire.

And how they look with just 1 coat added same tire as pic in 1st post.

Adding in my thoughts on the Turtle Wax Jet Black Endura-Shine Tire Coat Kit:

Used it today on the Audi and like it so far. Cleaner that comes with it does a decent job but I did break out some bleach white and hit the tires again just to make sure they were cleaned off good.

As the product warns, it is like water and a little goes a long way and it does squirt out almost too easily. I put three coats on but perhaps should have stopped at 2 seeing as how it went from satin to gloss.

Leaving this on for time to tell how long it will last. Here's a quick peak at how it looks.
