In mobile detailing (mainly for semis, rvs, some aircraft) what are the best options for transporting everything in a mobile power wash, detail business? I was thinking a simple work van can transport the water tank and everything else my partner thinks we need a trailer and I'm told by a trucking company they recommended a small truck (like a uhaul)

Thoughts?

I would think a van is ideal. A small trailer for tank and possibly generator would leave more space inside the van for chemicals and supplies.

Chevrolet express 2500 or 3500 with a 6.0 engine and a 4l80e tranny. The long ones (155") wheel base will allow for 2 300 gallon water tanks and your needed equipment and a short (135") wheel base will take 1 300 gallon tank and your needed equipment. Cheap to work on and parts can be found anywhere! 2004 or newer.....

Really appreciate the responses! Thanks

I actually just got an older S-10 I'm deciding on what to do with it. However, the bed will have a roll up cover with supplies. Will be repainted black and new wheels tires and lift (shocks in rear and torsion in front 2.5" lift). Already has a good 4.3 v6 in it so I can two a small trailer. Then have a 150 gallon tank, pressure washer, generator, extractor, shop lights, etc in the trailer. Small jobs take the truck if they supply a water source. Big jobs hook up and go.

Forgot to add... I'll have 2500 total on truck costs and my trailer only cost $950 for a 6x8 enclosed black with side door.

Are you planning to utilize a "Hotsy" type PW?
Does the trucking company require rolling ladders/platforms per insurance regs?

I like these little transit connect cargo vans I see running around. You sound like you might be working on bigger vehicles than I though, so you might need a big van/ enclosed trailer and a bigger truck. I'm setting up my mobile unit right now which is a reg cab/ 6.5' bed pick up. Planning on using a California air tool quiet 10 gallon compressor, 55 gallon drum tank, and mightyforce 1800 pressure washer.

Look no further then the Ford Transit Connect. I'm convinced this is the best vehicle for a mobile detailer and will be the next vehicle I buy. Lots of room, two sliding doors, great gas mileage, small enough to get in and out of anywhere.
