Guys
I am planning to take advantage of the memorial day sale to buy some waterless/little water wash product. I normally wash my car (the whole double bucket wash jig and then either wax or qd the car) every other week. I don't travel far to my office and have basement parking at office also. Hence it doesn't get too dirty inbetween washes but there's certainly dust/pollen etc that piles on.

To avoid washing every week - I'd like to invest in a waterless wash product. Something like Poorboys Spray and Wipe or DP 4-in-1 wash. I have thought of just QD'ing the car but can't get myself to do it. I don't think QD's have enough lubricants that would allow me to clean the car without marring the finish.

So with that background - onto the question:

- What in your opinion is the best product for my situation? Spray and Wipe or DP 4-in-1?
- Are there other products that I should consider - I've heard of ONR but don't know what it is.

So please help me pick up the best waterless wash product for my situation.

Persoanlly I love Poorboys Spraw & Wipe it's great for in between washes. I've used it on my car when it was pretty dirty with no problems. I buy it by the gallon, cause you use about 4oz for a mid size car. Thats 4 oz after you get the hang of it, everyones first few times uses more then needed to feel safe lol. ONR is Optimum No Rinse soap it's a soap with zero suds. You wash and dry a panel at a time, you can mix it in a bottle and make it as strong or weak depending on your needs to make it a waterless (with water) carwash.

All three are good. ONR="Optimum No Rinse". It's said that a capful of ONR in your wash bucket w/shampoo tends to act like a water softener. That how I use ONR. That said I actually use DP 4 in 1 as a waterless wash, and that's the one that should work well in your situation.

Thanks for the help....1 each for Poorboy S&W and DP 4-in-1

I need a clear majority to make a decision.... Com'on people :)

another vote for 4 in 1. I love this stuff in between full washes just to get everyday pollen and what not off the paint. Another good tip is to pressure wash off all the heavy dirt and than come home and use the 4 in 1 to clean up. I also like it because you can use it in the garage with very little mess.

My vote is for ONR and PB S&W.

I normally use ONR for washes. My G35 is usually used on the weekends, so on Friday afternoons, I use S&W to remove the dust layer.

I love the 4n1 for its versitility... You can use it as a water softner by adding an oz or so to your wash buck. You can use it as a QD and also a clay bar lube. I use it as a softner and QD.

I totally agree,hence the name 4 in 1:D

I've used Spray and Wash before and found it works fine. Cost wise it's not as economical as rinseless washes. I've used the three rinseless wash products that I am aware of (QEW, ONR, DP4N1). I'd use any to wash a car and wouldn't have a problem doing so. My pick though is ONR which is what I use on my own cars and in my mobile business. I felt when used on a regular basis it looks and works great. All three worked well but ONR seemed a little better to me and it cost less since you can use 1/2 oz per gallon instead of 1 oz. Many will mix it still at 1oz but I'm pretty comfortable that Optimum got their instructions right. I do tend to mix just a dash more to make sure I hit the 1/2 oz per gallon mark. Like maybe 1.5oz to 2-1/2 gallons.

I done almost 1000 cars with ONR and if I had to go back to a normal bucket wash I would hate it. A 2 gallon sprayer comes in handy for doing wheels, tires, wells and any heavy areas that might need a little pre rinsing. My pick is ONR but you'll do well with any you choose.

Both. Spray and Wipe is a waterless wash, closer to a QD. I spray it on, when it is just a little dust (use my Cobra duster first). I use my 4-in-1 when it is dirtier, but not dirty enough to break out the foam gun. 4-in-1 is a rinseless wash, not a water less. Both serve diffrent purposes.

I have been using ONR for regular washing for a couple of months since I live in an apartment and am very pleased with the results. Very easy to use and can be used when car is very dirty. I find from personal experience that Spray and Wipe works well when your car is only lightly dusted but I would not use it for a heavily soiled car.

Poorboy's S&W for touch ups, DP 4-in-1 as a rinseless wash.
Yeah, I've been a big fan of S&W, but I've found 4in1 to be a little better when the cars are really dirty. I've been using 4in1 now weekly since the tighter water restrictions. The only mitt that I've found to work best in my opinion is a sheepskin (but they shed from the 4in1) so after talking with Mehgan I thought I would give the Sea Sponge a try. It arrived yesterday, after rinsing out all the debris and could not believe how soft it gets when soaked. I can't wait to try it with the 4in1.

Interesting. I was experimenting with distilled water in a bug sprayer for my "quick" weekly wash, plus also since I dont have a truck to carry gallons of water in a tank, I was seeing if this could be possible to do for customers that want there vehicle done at there office. But it seems like using ONR would be fine. then after use the spray wipe.

That reminds me I should try it too. I still have a sea sponge I bought a while ago. I hardly ever use it though.

Thankyou...

What a great response I got. Looks like it is a situation most of us find ourselves in.

Unfortunately I am more confused than ever. There seems to be a whole lot of support and endorsement for all products out there.

Just scanned through the replies at work. Will get home and go through each response in detail and make my decision.

Thanks again for all response till now. Keep em coming.

ONR is far superior to DP 4-in-1, I can say this because I own, and have extensively used both.

Now that I have tried both, I buy ONR by the gallon, better results, and uses literally half of what dp 4-in-1 needs, just look at the labels on both, you get twice the bang for your buck with ONR.

That is the way I'd go. In fact it is they way I go! I have both products. I use the PB S&W often and if I need to do a full rinseless wash I break out the DP 4 in 1.

You will be pleased with these products.

What to apply with??

Thanks again to everybody who replied....

One last question - what's best to apply these rinseless washes?

- Sheepskin mitts
- Sea sponge
- Schmitt
- Anything else

I have a sheepskin and a Meguiars dog bone microfiber thingy and a couple of cobras. Can I use one of these (if yes - which one) or do I need anything else - like one from the list to prevent marring on the paint?
