Hi.
I need some recommendations on the best wax for a black car. I want something that would last a while and be durable. I usually wash my car every week, so I would prefer something that wont wash or come off that easily.
Thanks

Oh Boy

You opened up Pandora's box. There is Fuzion, Midnight Sun, Sonax Son1C Phoenix and the Polish Angel liquid waxes. I do have one that I am using now and just ordered another jar as I am running low from applying it so much on my ride (through out time) as well as most other vehicles I detail. That is Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax.

I have had great success with Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax. I know I am going to get a lot of "you are full of bat guano" to think it lasts long. However, it does last for a reasonable amount of time. I usually apply a new coat of wax (full detail) at around the 2 month mark. It does seem to hold up pretty good.

But IMO Souveran is a great wax that is hard to beat when it comes to gloss, depth and brilliance. My guess you will wax your car sooner than 2 to 3 months. But IMO, MOST waxes tend to last around the 2 to 3 month mark and I do not care what brand it is. That again, is just me and my 1st hand experience.

But the Souveran Paste wax is really a great product!

Wax's evaporate easily, especially if you are washing that often.
Go with a sealant.
I use Adams H2O Guard and Gloss, its an awesome drying aide, seals great! And provides and outstanding shine

I would opt for Collinite #915 and please, don't listen to anyone talking about how its hard to work with, never ever had an issue when using this in the past. While I agree about what some say about waxes, I'm not sure this is even a traditional wax. Sure it comes in an old school metal tin but the results speak for themselves IMO.

As always, prep work previous to the wax application is the most important part of a great finish!

I agree that a sealant will last longer. I do prefer a wax over a sealant or I will put a wax over a sealant. Haven't done that this year. But I agree a sealant lasts longer. But I think a wax looks better. That is a SUBJECTIVE opinion.

Carnaubaflockencreme™ is the ultimate step in the future of Carnauba Wax and sealing technology. CENTURION contains fine black Carnauba flakes that feed the pores of your paint with sufficient nutrients left behind in the pre cleaning process. This then creates a unique prismatic shape on your paint surface.

This special patented creamy Carnauba Flake formula penetrates deep into the pores of the paint surface resulting in 100% gloss and protection. Reduced titanium (IV) oxide crystals form the basis which acts as a reflective barrier when exposed to sun light. The high resistance of the formula is another breakthrough, silica crystals (SiO) characterize the protective structure of this unique wax. The fine flakes will literally melt between your fingers!
Carnaubaflockencreme™ is pure perfection for all colours and has as durability life of up to 12 months with optimum care.

If you want a wax, then I recommend BLACKFIRE BlackICE Hybrid Montan Sealant Wax

However, if you want my personal opinion, it's going to boil down to how good of a polish job you do more than what you top that refined surface with. I have tons of reflective shots of both my black vehicles and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between the waxes and sealants right up until you see it in person and compare a coated car with a non coated car. Then the difference is more visually noticable to most average people.

I've always maintained a very refined surface on our vehicles, but after I moved to ceramic coatings, I began to really get compliments and the old "what have you done to that car to make it look like that?"

Coatings give it more of a wet-candy-cane like appearance. Some call it the wet-look or plastic coated appearance. The "depth" however, especially noticable next to that "candy effect" I call it, really pops out on a nice summer day with puffy white clouds. It's miles deep in black and that's due in part to the polish job, not the LSP.

Good luck, have fun experimenting and know that you can't go wrong if you polish it well.

Just keep it swirl free and it won't matter what's on the paint. Most of the LSPs listed look the same anyways so it's not like anyone would tell the difference.

In all honesty, you could apply collinite perfectly and the weather could still mess it up. So yeah it is hard to work with. Probably the last wax I would recommend to someone but that's just me.

Maybe there's something in the wind here in the Windy City but #915 has been a breeze for me, even left it on overnight before... No problems

Powerlock and follow it up with Megs xpress wax. Sealant lasts for protection and the xpress wax has a great shine and easy as drying aid after maintenance washes.

I've only tried 845 so I cannot truthfully speak on 915. They sure do have the longevity though.

#476 and #915 are truely great products!

I needed a jack hammer to remove 476, then it went in the garbage.

Since they have been mentioned, I have to add that I have used Collinite 845 and 476 with great success. Key is to apply them in THIN layers. I use a black pad and my buffer and make sure it goes on thin. Personally I remove them after every other panel. In other words, I do the hood and roof, then remove in that same order. Front door, back door, then remove in that same order. I don't let it sit dried for too long.

476 I have and never really had a problem with. Always applied by hand. Just didn't have the longevity I read about.

I can only apply 845 in the fall. I apply it so thin you can hardly see it, and maybe 2 small drops per panel. I apply it with a DA liquified. Meaning I heat the bottle up until it's a liquid and drop 2 maybe 3 small size drops to a black wax applicator pad.

In the fall never any issues, but if I did the same process now in the summer I would have to wipe everything down again the next day.

Don't really get the sweating issues most get, but it just feels oily not in a good way. After a week it's fine but still enough to aggravate me lol
