What is the best way to clean dirt and gunk out of deep vents?

How large of a compressors do you need to run a tornado ?

Another vote for a steamer. And I got mine for less than %50 too.

It's not a professional top of the line unit but it gets the small jobs done.

Does an amazing job of leaning deep, hard to reach areas. Like vents and door jams.

Just make sure that you put a towel on the floor of the car first. The water that may drip out is FILTHY!

Don't let them get dirty in the first place!
Hit them with the brush tip on your vacuum every wash.

If it is already dirty...a lot of cars you can literally just pull the vent out (carefully). Usually a couple of spring metal tabs holding them in place on the sides (use a prying tool). Once out you could soak in APC and scrub with a big brush.

Yeah, depends how I'm feeling that day and how bad the vents are, but I generally use either compressed air or steam paired with a detailing brush. On really bad ones, you have to use a little cleaner. I like M40 for this purpose.

On a side note, I've found the best way to dress vents is with Meguiars Aerosol plastic and vinyl coating, on the low setting (the sprayer is adjustable). It atomizes very well and puts a super thin, even layer of dressing on the vents.

I hate aerosol products, but this is my one exception.

Steam or tornador.

I have not done any yet but I have the micro attachments for my wet vac. they should get in there.,,, does a compressor just blow the stuff back inside the vent? currious.

I knew a used car dealer who was a friend of a friend squirt a cars vents and entire car with a garden hose. Needless to say when he called and asked for my detail expertise I declined.

An inexpensive handheld steamer (just read reviews and look for ones that get nice and hot) are super useful around the house. Stain removal, cleaning the oven, removing wrinkles, etc. Mine has a ton of attachments and a hose, but I use a small 'nozzle' attachment on the end to blow out my vents. I did that even before I started to learn about detailing! Also use it to get out stains and gunk from spilled drinks/coffee in my car.
