I use 3D Towel Kleen as my detergent, but haven't done any pre-soaking. I have some microfiber towels that still have some pretty bad staining even after a wash with Towel Kleen.

What is the best way to treat these stains?

Thanks

I think folex should work, somebody with a little more knowledge will hopefully will hopefully chime in as I am curious as well.

i pre-treat with Shout and soak in well-dissolved Oxi-Clean. that usually works for anything that isn't a junk towel.

but if the towel is too stained, just demote it.

Cool I wasn't sure if Oxi Clean was safe or not for microfibers...

What's worked best for me is Megs D101 neat. I spray it on the stains and let sit for a few minutes (5-10) before I throw in the wash (I would do this right before you wash...probably don't want the APC sitting on there for a day or two).

Another option to do more towels at once with more widespread staining would be a 3 gallons of water with 3 oz. D101 (or 1:128 ratio). Let them soak for an hour or 2, then wring out and wash. I like to do this after after polishing/sealant/wax session also as it will help lift the residue from the towels before you wash with MF detergent.

OK, newb question here. Does a stain on a mf towel have an effect on performance? I see that it could if it were something "solid", but just a cosmetic stain? tia

^^This has worked best for me as well.

I guess that depends on what of stain it is; so far nothing has affected any towels that I have unless it was tar/petroleum distillate-based.

it definitely is. i've used it a lot. but, to be safe and keep the towels from possibly holding onto granules, make sure it's dissolved first in the washer tub. some washers prob aren't easy with that. mine is. i just sprinkle the powder in during agitation cycle then after a little bit, add the towels, let it agitate for a while then let them soak for however long.

i've never had a problem with granules.

I used a nice MF to wipe down tar and mixed some megs super degreaser and 114 in a bucket and I was amazed how clean it came out .. the towel was covered in tar

I asked the same question last year and someone suggested me to try Oxiclean as well.

My MF towels were stained from using ONR. What I did was leave the stained towels in a bucket solution of Oxiclean over night, then I gave them a hand wash and most of the stains came off.

I also use 3D towel kleen btw :)
