My car has rubber floor mats over a carpet flooring. However, sometimes I get mud or grease marks on the carpet. What is the best way to shampoo or clean a carpet? Is it intensive? I've never done it before so I'm not sure what methods or products to use.

Also the ceiling of my car has this mesh/cloth kind of stuff, sometimes I get marks on that as well. Is there a way to wash the ceiling that has this kind of material? I can take pictures if needed, if my description isn't clear enough.

Advice much appreciated.

For the mud/dirt, vacuum while agitating with a stiff brush and remove as much as possible.

For grease/oil stains, I use a citrus degreaser. 3D Orange 88 degreaser works well.

If you don't have an extractor, you don't really want to "shampoo", because you may leave a lot of cleaner behind that will attract more dirt.

Chemical Guy's fabric clean works well. Used with a cotton terry cloth, brush or MF towel works great.

Buy bigger rubber floor mats like Weathertech's and you will never have to clean your carpets. They aren't the prettiest but I never take my two sets out.

For about $190 I bought a Hoover scrub master carpet cleaner. It comes with hand attachments and really works well. You have to heat the ter before adding it to the machine but the extraction tools come in 4 different shapes/sizes. They also hook up to dispense cleaner from them. Very surprised to see the brown water in the collection tank but relived that it was out of my car also.

Seriously if you have never used Folex it does wonders and it is dirt cheap. Meg's APC is a good choice as well.

I have tried Wolfgang carpet cleaner and really like it. Just as easy as Folex
