Hey guys,

What do you guys use for small wheel wells?

I've gotten fed up with my Mother's wheel well brush. It is like a half inch too thick to fit comfortably in the wheel well.

I also don't want to buy wheel woolies though because they are $50 and I don't have that much to spend on detail supplies at the moment.

Is there something that works well that isn't one of those two products?

Thanks in advance!

If its a low profile car nothing will get in there but Wheel Woolies. I use this one from Chemical Guys.

For the times when there is little space between the wheel well opening and the tire I use a toilet bowl brush :xyxthumbs: It's the kind with a loop on the end. The bristles are mostly too stiff on them, but I finally found one that works great and it was super cheap.

Otherwise if there is enough room I use one exactly like cartman57's. I got it from Lowes.

Kinda like this one:

I'm not sure, but those first two brushes look similar in size to the mothers wheel brush? Maybe one of you have both and can comment on similar size? If so, they might not fit well either. Thanks for the suggestions :)

Where did you find it? Thanks for the tip :props:

I honestly can't remember. I'm sure a lot of people must have thought I was weird seeing me feeling all of the toilet brushes. Every time I was in a store and seen them I would feel them. Most of the bristles are too stiff to flex into the cracks and crevices under a fender well. One day I found one that the bristles didn't seem too stiff so I got two and they are awesome. Haven't even used the spare one yet as the first one is holding up just fine.

Yes, those sure look like the ones from Mothers.

I see a lot of unprotected metal on that brush's head...

Have you tried the Daytona Jr.? The major problem with that one is its size (length).

I think your best bet would be the Woolies.

The only metal is the twisted metal holding the bristles. The ends of the metal are inside the plastic handle. Nothing sharp or jagged. It's just the plastic under the fender well so I don't see a problem here.

I have a Daytona and I seem to recall the bristles being held on by twisted metal as well? I only use it on wheels. I don't like to keep bending it as my last one broke from bending. I actually don't even use it that much as I have another (similar) that is much less flexible that I like better.

Too short or too long? It's not too short and it's long enough I've been able to use it effectively on everything I tried it on so far.

Metal yes, but coated.

For wells, the Jr. is not long enough.

I've got the brush from Menards, it works pretty good on the truck, but there's plenty or room there. Didn't think of the toilet bowl brush, will have to pick one up for use on the car wheel wells.

Okay, that's right.

Well the bristles are stiff enough that the metal wont be in direct contact (or extremely little) to the fender well plastic and if it does come in contact the metal is very smooth. Dirty wheel wells are a pet peeve of mine so I'm always cleaning mine using that brush and I have 100% faith that it will do no damage and hasn't yet.

I ONLY use it for fender wells... never wheels or anything.

Gotchya ;)

Bristles are about 1 1/2" long plastic head is about 1", unless you have little to no wheel to fender clearance it won't work.
The toilet brush seems like a good idea too.

I have both the mothers and the angled head green bristle one. I got the green angled one because I thought it would fit better than the mothers, but it doesn't. I use the mothers brush 99% of the time, but on tight wheel wells I use this:

I'd never use it on wheels like the pic shows because there's metal and the bristles are stiff, but it's bendable and good enough just for agitation on wheel wells after you've sprayed them down with your cleaner

Well it seems like my two choices are woollies and a toilet brush. S
Could you le me know where you get your toilet brush from?

It could have been Dollar Tree or Sweetbay Supermarket. I can't remember 100% I just remember it was a place I don't go to often. Just look for one without extremely hard bristles and no sharp edges. They're cheap enough that you can try a few to see if you like one better than the other.

I like my brush from mother's but sometimes I wish the bristles were a bit stiffer.
