Bird poop etched my clearcoat, how can I fix it?

My daughter has been using our Land Rover LR3 for the last couple of weeks. She hasn’t been very diligent in keeping it washed. A bird pooped on it and it etched the clear coat. I tried one step on it. It looks a bit better but the etching is still visible. Ideas on getting it buffed out. Thanks. Phil

If it is indeed etched it likely won't come out. A picture or two would certainly be of help to all.

Try a compound first..if that doesn't level it, the next step is a light wet sand and buff.
