Let me start off by saying that I am relatively new to AG and this is only my third time buffing. I bought a Porter Cable and Wolfgang kit from here back in December and have been hooked ever since.
After seeing the result I achieved on my personal car using a PC/Wolfgang/LC CSS pads, my friend decided to order the same kit. I agreed to help him do his so we could double-team it and get it finished in one day, since he was returning to college soon.
So here is the car as it arrived:
After a through wash: (looks good with an overcast sky)
No hiding from a flashlight... this car was definitely one of the worst I had seen when it comes to swirls.
and there is definitely no hiding from flood lights...
Flash on, faster shutter:
As you can imagine, this thing looked awful in the sunlight. I couldn't wait to see what we could do to this baby.
All kinds of sap and other **** collected on the hood from highway miles and sitting outside all he time at the university. Also notice the key marks on the top of the front bumper cover.
The messy setup (which has since been organized with a shelving unit).
Anyway, on to the good stuff. We clayed it with a kit he got on here (forgot which one), then we got the xp7424's running with our Lake Country orange pads and Wolfgang TSR 2.0.
Here are the results on the hood.
Looked great, but was nothing compared to what's coming next.
Here are the results after a mere 6 passes (as recommended) on the door. I put a strip of painters tape down so we could see the difference (the buffer overlapped the tape a little bit)
It was a stunning difference! Seriously, we admired it for a good 15 minutes before even moving on.
It probably could have been gone over for another 6 passes to get it as perfect as you guys get them, but we had no time... and besides, it's a daily driver.
We hit it with a Wolfgang Finishing Glaze and topped that off with Wolfgang Paint Sealant.
Here are some finished pictures (sorry about the lack of daylight). Keep in mind we only worked on the paint, not a full detail. He is rolling on stock 17's because he is repainting his black 18" bullitts. That's why we didn't bother with tire gloss or any of that mumbo jumbo.
Flashlight reflecting off the hood and onto the wall. :xyxthumbs:
The key marks were significantly less noticeable.
and finished up with a little exhaust tip polish.
Thanks for looking! Hopefully I will have some daylight pictures for the next car I do.
