Let me start off by saying that I am relatively new to AG and this is only my third time buffing. I bought a Porter Cable and Wolfgang kit from here back in December and have been hooked ever since.

After seeing the result I achieved on my personal car using a PC/Wolfgang/LC CSS pads, my friend decided to order the same kit. I agreed to help him do his so we could double-team it and get it finished in one day, since he was returning to college soon.

So here is the car as it arrived:

After a through wash: (looks good with an overcast sky)

No hiding from a flashlight... this car was definitely one of the worst I had seen when it comes to swirls.

and there is definitely no hiding from flood lights...

Flash on, faster shutter:

As you can imagine, this thing looked awful in the sunlight. I couldn't wait to see what we could do to this baby.

All kinds of sap and other **** collected on the hood from highway miles and sitting outside all he time at the university. Also notice the key marks on the top of the front bumper cover.

The messy setup (which has since been organized with a shelving unit).

Anyway, on to the good stuff. We clayed it with a kit he got on here (forgot which one), then we got the xp7424's running with our Lake Country orange pads and Wolfgang TSR 2.0.

Here are the results on the hood.

Looked great, but was nothing compared to what's coming next.

Here are the results after a mere 6 passes (as recommended) on the door. I put a strip of painters tape down so we could see the difference (the buffer overlapped the tape a little bit)

It was a stunning difference! Seriously, we admired it for a good 15 minutes before even moving on.

It probably could have been gone over for another 6 passes to get it as perfect as you guys get them, but we had no time... and besides, it's a daily driver.

We hit it with a Wolfgang Finishing Glaze and topped that off with Wolfgang Paint Sealant.

Here are some finished pictures (sorry about the lack of daylight). Keep in mind we only worked on the paint, not a full detail. He is rolling on stock 17's because he is repainting his black 18" bullitts. That's why we didn't bother with tire gloss or any of that mumbo jumbo.

The key marks were significantly less noticeable.

and finished up with a little exhaust tip polish.

Thanks for looking! Hopefully I will have some daylight pictures for the next car I do.

That's so sick! hoping i can achieve results like this!
just having to get a g220 da i think for 240v in NZ. wow! more photos please! give us some in daylight! Awesome!

What a huge difference!! Excellent work!! I can't wait for winter to be over so I can finally de-swirl my car for the first time. :buffing:

Hopefully he learned how to wash i and take care of it without putting all those marks back in! That car was HORRIBLE!

Wow what an incredible turn around!!! That car was full of swirls! Great job!

I can't believe how bad that car was. It lookd like somebody worked hard to put those swirls in there! Great work cleaning that up :props:

Hey Chris, Welcome to the Autogeek Fraternity! :props:

When you said swirls you weren't kidding. For a newcomer you've done an extraordinary job at bringing the paint back to life!

Superb work and looking forward to hearing more from you! :dblthumb2:

Thanks for all the kind words guys! My friend did a great job too for his first time. With just a little instruction he was achieving amazing results (he's the one that did the door pictured). It just proves how great the PC is for beginners.

I haven't even seen the car since then, though. He's back at Auburn with it now. He did send me a cell phone picture of it the next day, though: (Yes, the VHT on his tails look awful. We will fix it.)

This weekend I will make another thread for a car me and my buddy just finished. We bought a black '01 V6 mustang for next to nothing, saved the paint, did $0 body work, fixed mechanical issues, and now it is sitting on a dealers lot for over 500% of the amount we put into it. I have to say the Porter Cable and Wolfgang products made it possible!

Here is a taste:

All sorts of hazing and oxidation... and swirls!

Just a sneak peek with cell phone pictures... this Friday we are going to go get it and wash it since it has snowed all over it. I'll get some good sunlight pictures then. :xyxthumbs:

black is always good after buffing. i definitely want to see that other mustang when its done. Looks like it was hit with sandpaper.

Amazing job! Huge correction and you found some new blood to bring into the sport. Bonus points! Im the MAN :hungry:
