My fiancee's dad has a Black and Decker 6126 Type 100 he said I could have, but I can't find any info on it and he's not sure where the manual is or if he even still has it. All he could tell me was that it was a polisher and that if you push down on it it stops. Can anyone help me out here?

I used the world-wide inter google and could only come up with parts to fix it with diagrams of the polisher exploded out to see all the insides. Does anyone know what kind of polisher this is, random orbital or what? Also, I need to find a backing plate for it to use it. Any help and info on this product would be much appreciated.

I know this may not be the best polisher, and that Autogeek.net doesn't sell it, but it's what I have available to me at this time.

East Coast Tools lists the following info:

Black and Decker 6126 Automotive Series 7in. or 9in. Angle Polisher

7 Amps
2400 Rpms

Looks like a single speed rotary. I don't see a listing for the threading so you may want to measure it, then sift through the backing plates listed at Autogeek.net
 
Another site has a parts list for repair and a clamp washer is listed with a 5/8" threading. If this is indeed for the spindle then I would say any rotary backing plate will attach. Maybe reach out to BobbyG on here.
 
Thank you. Do you think that this will be suitable for using the 3M paint repair kit that includes all the pads and polishes?
 
This a fixed speed rotary polisher designed to operate at 2300rpm. This is a bit fast for compounding and polishing so I'd be careful using it because friction generates heat and burn through might happen before you know it.

Your father-in-law to be indicates that the machine stops when force is applied which tells me that this machine isn't very powerful. Normally this isn't a desired feature "but" since this is all you have to work with less power will act as a safety valve.

This machine has a free speed of 2300rpm. As force is applied, even under its own weight, the rpm appears to drop.. You might want to try dropping down to a 6" foam pad and appropriate backing plate and practice.

Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Meguiar's Ultimate Polish can be purchased locally so you'll have two great products to practice with that won't empty your wallet.

The thread is noted at the standard 5/8-11 so it will accept normal rotary attachments.

Thank you very much for the info. I may just hold off until I can get a more appropriate machine. Hoping to find a good used one which I haven't been able to find on craigslist.
