Well, it happened. I got a rotary burn on what turned out to be a beautiful black X5. And, did it glazing the hood....dad-gum-it! The 3M glaze pad which is very thin rode up on the edge of the backing plate (my bad on that one since you never angle a glaze pad...never!)

So now, I'm going to study up on airbrushing. I used one year's ago when I custom painted Harley's so it's not totally new....just need a refresher course on some scrap sheet metal. I'll probably mix color coat and clear coat in the airbrush and test a panel.

Here's some great shots of the car and the last one is the boo-boo. I'm sick!

And the ugly stripe...right on the hood curve of all places!

So, if any of you Auto Geeker's know airbrush techniques, chime right in...I'm all ears.

Toto

Sorry Toto, I have no experience in air brushing :o but hopefully someone experienced comes in to help you out.

ouch Toto..that aint fun..

Havent Airbrush`d other stuff than my plastic models, so cant help you out on that one, but if you have custom painted stuff in the past ill guess you still got it in your hands, and sort that one out

they taught us at RL when I went there for training... basically light sprays back and forth, then wet sand. then buff it out... but the car looks AMAZING!!!

What a shine. That does look amazing. Sorry about the burn. Please show us how you fix it.

That's something I would be interested in learning. Please share how, what materials, etc when you do it..thanks!
