This trade-in for a previously detailed X5 was in pretty rough shape. Lots of scratches and highway miles (120/k on the odometer).

I wet sanded the worst areas and used System One Polish X3 with a wool pad, followed by X3 with a foam pad. It's proven to be a real workhorse.

These BMW running boards are definitely not my favorite...but they do show a decent reflection

Wheel Wells cleaned in the shop (snow and ice outside). Used a bucket + apc + brush and lots of old terry rags

I have to finish the hood and pillars tomorrow, then tackle the nasty interior.

You amaze each and ervery detail !!!!! Man I can't wait to put the sytem one to work !!! It looks more and more promising

Master Toto.....what I would give to work for you free for two weeks to learn. I'd likely learn more in two weeks than I have in the past six years. This X5 is another toad to a tulip in your hands.

im so excited i got my x3 system today but i cant use it till i recover from surgery......but toto...it that looks amazing!!!

You always do great work. The X5 was trashed and you really made it look fantastic. Great Work!
I got my System 1 Kit yesterday. I could not resist, the reveiws on that product were unbelieveable. I can't wait to use mine. If I can put my Flex down for a few and pick up my rotory, I know the product will do what it says!:buffing:
What about those wheel wells,Yuk!

Hey Systen one has pads for the Flex also .I picked those up as well . So I will be covered on both machines Flex and Rotary. LOL

All Done before 2008!

I added a coat of Meguiar's M21 sealant with my trusty pc and a finish pad. This Bimmer is now ready for a new owner. Sure doesn't look like a 120,000 mile road warrior now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE....PLEASE STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY!

also- I was curious what grit sandpaper was used? Do you start off with a bit rougher and then go to a finer grit or do you usually use just one type of grit paper? thanks

Depends on the level of repair. Sometimes, I will start with 2000 grit and finish with 3000 (but that Trizact is very expensive at $6 per piece). Often times, I use 2500 which is a good compromise and doesn't need the 2000-3000 steps.

Man you are the black master. And I could not agree more with RTexasF, to be your shadow for a few weeks would be truely amazing.

Your detailing talent is amazing.

WOW!! Amazing Toto as always! Thanks for sharing!

Looks like your back to black bimmers! Great job as always Toto!

Hey Toto,

You do a great job all the time. I'm curious about the system one polishes and the wet sanding.

Did you wet sand with 2000 grit? And system one is only a rotary polish? Or can i apply it with a flex 3401?

Lastly, what would you compare system one polish to? Especially the most popular used polishes like Menzerna?
