Hello, I have a B&D 9555 Buffer & I want to use Mequiars Soft Buff 2.0 buffing pads with it.

Buffer/polisher looks like:

Can I just tear off the black foam pad shown & simply stick on the Meguiars pads as I want to use them?

I welcome any suggestions. Using to buff cars & maybe a little body work to touch up paint. :buffing:

I had one of those polishers a couple years ago and just used bonnets. But trust me its not worth it trying to make those pads work with that buffer unless the only thing you ever want to do is apply a wax/sealant. If you want to do more atleast buy a PC7424xp.

X2. Those "buffers" won't do much. I learned this the hard way. I stepped up to a griots garage 6inch RO, and the price was well worth the upgrade.

What 4ord said groits is the way to go i own one too.works very well

What do I do with these 7" pads?

I don't guess they'll work with either the griots or the porter cable ?

Thanks.

IF (yes, a BIG 'IF') you want to 'play' with it a bit...get some sticky back Velcro and put in the gray foam that is already on the buffer and slap a pad on to it.

I tried it, and it did kinda work. I even went as far a peeling the foam off of the buffer, NOT a good idea. That hard plastic is, well, just too hard. Not enough 'give' for the real foam pad.

All that being said, it did work out for doing some not-critical work (like a lawn mower, tool box(s)).

Good luck, if you try it, let us know what you think.

Bill

About all they are really good for is spreading out a coat of wax to paint ALREADY in great condition. That means they are useless for what most people want to do and that's remove swirls.

I explain why in-depth in this article,
