Black Friday Sales

Somebody has the Mark III Rupes on sale now for 25% off, not that that's what you're talking about. Polisher sales are rare, sure would be nice though.
Griot's often has the G8/G9 on sale during BF/CM. Probably not what most are looking for if they own any polishers tho.

I tried to register with several accounts over a 6 month period. They never would get activated. I finally sent an email to customer support. I'm guessing I am not the only one and that is part of the slowdown.

To me, it is when free shipping with no minimum is offered that makes a real difference.

Speaking as someone now on the other side of the shipping scale, after doing an unusually large amount of promos in 2023/2024, FREE SHIPPING promos always seemed to generate more responses than %-off, BOGO or other types of promotions.

The Amazon effect, perhaps?

Perhaps. I certainly remember a lot of trying to game out shipping, particularly when you had to get to a certain threshold..."if I can find something that's $3 that I don't need it will save me $12 overall because I'll get free shipping", or if I add this $15 item I can use, it will be essentially free because I will no longer be paying the shipping.

I always feel kinda bad when I see an order for something like $97.01 and think "Geez, just add (1) 300gsm towel for $1.99 and you'll hit the FREE SHIPPING threshold, saving the $9.99 Flat Rate charge and you get a towel to boot; net gain is $8 and a towel!

The downside to free shipping (for me, the shipper anyway) on all orders is no need to consolidate your purchases; order stuff today, remember you need a roll of tape or foam cannon orifice tomorrow, what the heck...another order! Will be going through a lot of tiny boxes this weekend

Still oddly entertaining to ship car care products...and not as costly as buying them like I used to!

I didn't want to clog up (see what I did there?) Klasse's coating thread so I thought this would be more appropriate here:

Beads goes live @10 a.m. per Bradley

It's there a little early. And...I hate you all because Phobic ended up in my order.

Hahaha nice! I got it early too. Ive never tried spray on rinse off products because im a skeptic of them but since they have yet to have a dud i snagged beads, i needed more adapt and amplify so close to free shipping so snagged hero to try too..which put me right at it.

You guys are killing me...on the one hand I have so much stuff to use up...on the other hand, buying stuff that uses newer technology will save me time and get me better results...right? Right?? And maybe if I buy new stuff I will throw out some of my old stuff...which has never worked before...hmm...I did actually throw out a bottle of Meg's 83 this morning...after agonizing for a few days about when the HECK I would ever want to use that stuff again. That was a trim-staining son of a gun.

And I did throw out a little bottle of McKee's headlight polish the other day, that I got when AG was blowing out that stuff at 50% off in 2017-ish, it smelled terrible (solvent) but it seemed to still be liquid, so I thought I would give it a try, but it was hard to get out of the bottle and didn't work very well, so I tossed it. I finished the headlights with some original version Optimum Hyper Compound...that I got a lot of when AG was blowing that out...so you can see why Black Friday is a problem for me (don't I need some more microfiber....something??).

Of course maybe I can resist Phobic on the theory that they will be coming out with a smaller bottle of it...of course I can just put the big bottle in the freezer, right? Right??

I would put it in the fridge. Thats what i do with all my coatings.

Phobic is nice application, quick and easy. Just used it again today. How long will it actually last..i dont know. Its gives more value to a person who will use it on more than 1 vehicle. You need to just weight out if its worth 80 bucks to ya.

What do you use in place of 83?

I haven't used #83 in...forever, probably since 105/205 came out. I just have had 80/82/83 sitting on my shelf unused for 15+ years and decided I was never going to use them for anything...but I'm a packrat (hoarder?) so I was only able to get myself to throw out the one, so far. I only detail my own cars and sometimes a friend or family, so I hardly do any polishing anymore, although most of my cars need it. I've been using the Optimum polishes for a while, but I haven't bought any polishes for a long time, so I missed all the Sonax/Boss/etc. fun. I am eyeing up the Dr. Beasley's NSP's, and they have a Black Friday thing going on...so we'll see.

I have a bottle of 83 I picked up at Ollies for $5.99 on close out....used it a few times...not sure what to make of it actually....

It's old school stuff from the 90's, maybe late 80's, with the "trade secret" polishing oils, which were really for single stage paint. Maybe it would work ok with today's polishers, but back in the PC big/thick pad days, it wasn't very effective. I'm not finding it at the Meguiar's store, so maybe they have discontinued it, which is why you found it on closeout. I can see why, with M100, M110/210 and even M105/205 being more modern/capable products.

I mean, all the polish mfrs. reformulated their products in the late 80's to be "clearcoat safe", but that didn't mean they were designed for clearcoats. As I alluded to earlier, once 105/205 came out with the SMAT abrasives, these older Meg's polishes really became obsolete, I think it's a testament to the inertia in the bodyshop etc. industry that they've continued selling it this long, since arguably (and I don't follow the Meg's stuff that closely anymore) M100 and M110/210 kind of obsoleted M105/205...I'll let people who have used the newer products (I haven't) hash that out.

I guess I'd better get on the stick, I started this thread and I haven't bought anything yet...

The way I purchased my Flex polishers "in the old days" from the Geek...... Buy the $300 gift cards for 20% off at Christmas. Wait for the yearly 15% off Flex in the 1st quarter. Not sure if either is available anymore.

When is Autogeek going to stop with the tiered percentage off sales? I stopped buying from them because of this.
Just give me 25% my order during a sale no matter how much I buy. If you want to tier something do it for free shipping.

Maybe because it costs alot to ship… Imagine getting bombarded with a ton of 1-3 item orders that have a high flat shipping rate. It’s a waste of time & money.

Not sure what you did not comprehend, I didn't say I wanted free shipping on orders. Instead of doing 20% off of $125, 25% off of $200 and 30% off of $350 just give 25% off any order and then tier free shipping. Offer free shipping on orders over a certain dollar amount.
I don't need to spend a certain amount to get a discount at the other places I shop.

AutoForge is 20% off store wide and free shipping on orders over $95
The House of Rags is 25% off store wide free shipping on orders over $99
The Rag Company is 20% most items and $9.99 Flat rate shipping, free over $145
Car Supply Warehouse is 20% most items and free shipping over $125

So are these other store wasting their time and money?
