Black Label Coating Question

So whats the difference between the surface coating and the individual paint, wheel and glass coatings? Seems like it would be easier to just buy one than all three products but....

Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure Nick has answered this question in the Black Label Introduction thread, maybe someone remembers where that's at and can look it up and copy and paste it here?

From memory, what he wrote was the Surface Coating can be used on multiple surfaces, plastic, paint, metal, glass, etc.

The Paint Coating is specific to paint.

Seems like it would be easier to just buy one than all three products but....

Thoughts?

And I think that's the idea behind the product. an ALL-IN-One Coating.


I've been using the Black Label Surface Coating on our Mercedes-Benz SLK350 and while I would normally lean towards using a dedicated paint coating I'm nothing but impressed with the results.

It's been 50 days since we did a show car makeover on this Mercedes-Benz. It's been raining a lot here in South Florida so this last weekend I washed her using the Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Coating Shampoo and a Montana's Boar's Hair Brush, then dusted each panel with a mist or two of Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Surface Coating, spread with a clean microfiber towel and then buffed to a dry shine.



How's this for the glassy look?

Are the specific wheel and glass coatings better for their purpose than the all Surface Coating that can also be applied to glass and wheels?

Answer:

Durability is comparable, however I would give a slight edge to Diamond Glass Coating versus Diamond Surface Coating when used on windshields. From my testing, Diamond Glass Coating causes water to roll off the surface at speeds as low as 20 mph, where that speed is about 30 mph for Diamond Surface Coating.

What is the difference between the "surface coating", the "paint coating" and the "paint sealant"?

I thought I was reading Bob's comment for a second.

Sleuthing.... really! I seriously had to break out the dictionary for that one.... and I thought I was a well read individual.

You made my day, Mike! I don't even have to try and find a "word of the day".

I was born and raised in northern french Canada with limited to no exposure to the "evil" english language, but decided to learn english at age 17 to be able to attend the "prestigious" McGill University. Part of my daily regimentation was/is to find a new word almost every day (or at least review an interesting old one) and use it as many times as I can. Not only practice the application in sentences but practice the proper phonetic pronunciation.

Anyways, not to hijack the thread uselessly I will say that so far my experience with the coating reflect what Nick has expressed. I am planning (when it warms up a little) to split my windshield in half and coat one side with the dedicated glass and one side with the surface coating and take some vids during a rain storm. This shall be an interesting comparison/review!
