Hello all, new to the forum. Appreciate the advice.

I just bought a 2011 GS350, Obsidian black, 30,000 miles. The finish is in average shape for the miles and (most likely) careless prior owner. Plenty of swirls, none too deep.

I have heard that Lexus paint is soft. There are also rumors (I don't believe them to be true) that Obsidian black is a single stage paint. This is the first Lexus that I have properly detailed.

I use a GG DA and B&S flat pads. Any input on pads, products would be helpful. Thanks!

Rick

What compounds & polishes do you have Rick? Have you read Mike`s article about doing test spots?

Welcome and congrats on your new ride.

Welcome to Autogeek. You need to do a test spot. Remember you want to use the least aggressive product that will do the job.

Preliminary plan:

Dawn wash - foam cannon and then 2 bucket
Pinnacle Ultra Poly clay
CG V36, white B&S pad (I would normally start with an orange pad but am worried about paint hardness)
CG V38, green B&S
Klasse Sealant, Red B&S
One Grand Blitz Wax, Black B&S

Test spot to start. Thx for all of the input!

I have an 08 lexus IS250 black. I dont find the paint to be soft.
last year i used fg400 with an orange pad. I didnt even go to a finer polish.
I then coated with cquartz. great results.
