Hi Mike. I have a Black MB- CLK. The truck has many Medium swirls and other stuff that I would like to take out. I own a Orginal PC with various 6'5" pads. I have Poorboys 2.5, Menz Final 11, Sonus1. Which one of three is best for the job. Or are they all wrong. I would like to use what I have.

Thanks

i think for the best result with the Original PC i suggest using it with 5.5 in pads rather then 6.5 in. so u have less problems bogging down when applying pressure. and PB ssr2.5 is nice but better results on a rotary bbuffer.... u can get come Megs Ultimate Compound at your local store and AG even sell t too for CHEAP! and it works WELL. and you'll prolly have better result with it then the SSR2.5 8) hope this helps 8)

First off, what year is the what i assume you meant to say GLK? PB products in my experience don't work well with ceramiclear paint systems, the menzerna SIP, 85 RD and Nano are great on the new mercedes paint.

Out of the products you name, the Menzerna 85u would be my first choice. But the pads used can have an effect on the outcome. Do you have any pictures of the paint condition?

2009 CLK- It is a car not an SUV. No pictures. The Menzerna I have is the Final Finish II not u. I have different types of Sonus pads. Heavy cut, light cut and wax.

Thanks

Not always... but normally if you don't see me online it's because I'm offline working on an offline project, I don't tend to stay logged-in if I'm unable to post to the forum.

For the last 2 days Max and I have been shooting commercials with Matt Steele, you can see a couple of pictures on my Facebook Page... and I'll post a couple more pictures later...

Back in the office today but have to set-up for another project tomorrow but I should have some time to work on the forum today...

For the first generation DA Polishers, I have an article in my article list that should help you...

This one...

How to maximize the ability of the 1st Generation Porter Cable Dual Action Polishers

This one covers pretty much everything related to using a DA

The Definitive How-To Article for Removing Swirls, Scratches and Water Spots Using a Porter Cable 7424XP, G110v2 or Griot's Garage Polisher - Includes Videos

As for chemical choice, if you want to use what you have then start by doing some test spots, see if you can make the paint in one small area look GREAT using your pads, products and technique and once you dial in a system that works to make one area look great then simply duplicate that process over the rest of the car section by section.

Buffing out a car by machine is just a matter of tackling small sections at at time and then when you start a new section be sure to overlap a little into the previous section.

The key is to do a TEST SPOT and make sure you can remove the defects and make one small area look good.

If you can't remove the defects in one small area you won't be able to do it to the entire car.

If you can't make one small area look GREAT then you won't be able to make the entire car look great.

And if you run into problems during your testing then post back here what you're seeing and myself of others will be more than happy to help you tweak your technique until we see you through to success in your garage.

Ahh, I see the confusion with the GLK, in your first post you say CLK and then mention "truck" I am guessing that was to be 'trunk' so he assumed an SUV. I did too.

Always fun to see pics of your work when you do it. Have fun!
