Black Mercedes - could this possibly work?

I made the mistake and bought my first Black car - Mercedes convertible - that showed a lot of swirl marks. Then bought a PC Dual Action polisher/lots of pads/polishes/compounds and went over the car twice.

Had a pro detailer out to do some touch up on rock chips on a BMW that I want to sell and showed him my Mercedes. His suggestion: After waxing - go over the car lightly with micro fibre cloth and Meguier's Swirl X swirl remover. Does this make sense- maybe the Swirl X would act as a filler?? Seems to me that the Swirl X should come first - but, maybe the subsequent waxing would remove any filler??

Any thought or experience would be welcome. Thanks.

Swirl x before the wax, the abrasive in swirl x would remove the wax so you would be wasting time and product. Go swirl x and then wax.

What did you use when you polished the car twice?

Was then paint the swirl free once finished?

Doing the swirl-x after make no sense to me.

Wax is a last step product. You can use detail spray or spray wax over it, but not any type of swirl remover. I would not use glaze after wax, either.
Polish the car to remove the swirls, then perhaps Menzerna PO85RD to jewel it, then glaze if any slight scratches remain that you don't want to thin paint more to remove, then wax, or sealant, then wax.

I used Wolfgang Finishing Glaze, Menzerna SF4000, and Meguiar's ultimate Polish. Didn't see much difference and actually thought I may have added some swirls with one of them. Went back over with Wolfgang and then waxed again.

Pre was Meguiar's Medium Cut Cleaner #1. I'm using Mother's Pure Carnuba.

Thanks for any suggestions. 2005 CLK 320.

Did you use them in that order?

I know that I used the Wolfgang first - but I didn't do the best compounding job (Meguiar's fine cut). I'm not sure which was next or even if I used the same on the entire car - my bad. I think that I may have made some swirls with the Menzerna - not 100% sure. Used a new pad to repolish with Wolfgang (only where I saw swirls in the bright sun).

Can you take a photo of you vehicle is the sun to show of the condition of the paint?

The MenzernaSF400 is a fine finishing polish that will provide very little cut. The wolfgang should be about the same as well. The ultimate polish would be a great starting point IMO since you say you have swirls still.

Do a test spot : http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/50162-how-do-test-spot.html

Dial in your process here. If the UP doesnt cut it then step up to Ultimate compound and work that on your test spot.

If the ultimate polish works you can then apply your wax or sealant as UP finishes LSP (last step product) ready. If you need to go with UC then be sure to follow up with UP.

If you want, after the UP you can apply SF4000 or Wolfgang finishing glaze then go to you LSP.
