I am looking for some input on what to use for restoring black metal trim. I am detailing a Suburban that has a black metal roof rack. The color has faded a bit, but there are no bare spots like I have seen on other racks.

I don't recall if those racks had a gloss form the factory. I think they were a semi-gloss.

You could try something like KAIO in a small spot.
 
I don't remember seeing black metal for the roof rack on suburban/tahoe, chrome yes, mine is black plastic with a weird coating on it that can be peeled away. If its black metal, try some klasse AIO as said, possibly even a metal polish and #0000 steel wool if a microfiber/towel isn't working.
 
I tried the KAIO. It turned out nice. Pretty much got the results I was looking for. Thanks for the tip.
