I just applied coatings on two vehicles. Both were black Mercury Mountaineers. One vehicle I used blackfire crystal quartz. The another I used pinnacle V2. Before applying each coating I preformed the following steps to prep the paint.

1. Hand washed the exterior using DP car soap.

2. Used blackfire detail clay.

3. Applied pinnacle paint prep.

Pinnacle V2: I sprayed it directly on the paint and used an applicator pad to spread it. I then wiped it with a microfiber towel. It was very easy to use and the paint looked great.

BLACKFIRE Crystal Quartz: The last time I used this I was left with a sticky mess that took forever to level. This time I used only a couple of drops per section. It still dryed to a light haze but this time it was a lot easier to level. The paint looked great and it had more shine than the pinnacle.

I would love to know if anyone else had the same issue applying the crystal quartz? I will send an update at a later time regarding the durability for each coating. I live in Chicago so it will be interesting to see how it holds up.

The problem I see with the blackfire is the bottle it gives way too much product when you try to put on applicator so you are left with excess and its is not easy to work with. Do the same with cquartz try applying 5-10 times what you should be and see how well it works.

There could have also been some bad batches but my initial thought is a lot of it has to do with the aggressive dumping of product

Matt, I find it interesting you mentioning the application issue being due to too much product. I was thought my issues might have been due to using too little product. Now I'm going to take another swing with the Blackfire and try using a little less.

You are right in the fact the stuff is really thin and the bottle does you no favors with controlling out-flow. I think I read somewhere Nick stated it would be a bad idea to put the product in a sprayer, but I'm really tempted to try anyway.

I ended up putting it in a syringe. It worked out much better.
