Hey Folks,

I did a little searching around but I didn't want to revive a year old thread. I have Blackfire Wet Diamond Paint Protection that I plan to use on my three cars. Questions, is this one of those "you can't put it on thin enough" products, where one dime sized dollop on a foam pad is enough for the whole car? Or, should I be re-wetting the applicator after say each body panel?

Thank you.

Chris

Very thin works well for me. Product should not dust. If your getting dust your applying it too thick. I applied it to my whole BMW car and it took about 0.6 oz.

I'm ham fisted and I know it, so, I apply BFWD and all LSP's with my PC and a LC gold or red pad. If you don't have a machine, don't worry, even you lather it on (like I tend to do) it is NOT a pita to get off!

Thanks. I put in on pretty thin and it came off pretty easy. Being new to detailing, I get nervous when I can't "see" the product going on. Putting a halogen work light at an angle to the surface seems to helps me see it a little better. Overall I was happy with the result. I am going to let it cure overnight and then top with BF Midnight Sun Wax.

Don't sweat it, as stated above even if you go heavy handed it's not a pain to use. I usually wet the applicator 1-2 times per panel depending on size of panel of course. It's easier to spread thin with a machine but not everybody has that option.

Yes, a little goes a long way. Once you do a few panels you probably only need ONE drop per panel. If you apply too much you will know about it later after you see what looks like holograms. Don't worry if that happens as some QD will thin it out for you.

I have not found a color BFWD does not look good on. Apply real thin is much better. I like to let it sit for about 15 minutes and seems to come off a little easier but not necessary.

I use BF on my cyber grey (grey with metallic flecks) 'vette and I am very happy with the results.

I just did a silver Dodge Ram today and BFWD looked fantastic

I do a very thin coat myself. I know some do multiple coats but I have only ever done 1 per detail.

Hi Chris...

It's good to see that you went from here:

Bob, I tried to snap a few pics but I have only my iPhone camera with me. I will try to grab some tomorrow while the sun is out to see what the people think. I must say that learning to properly care for auto paint has been more fun than I thought it would be.

OK, these are after a couple of days of driving and taken with an iPhone, but here are a couple of pictures.

The whole car

And the requisite reflection of my ugly mug in the hood.

Sorry for the thread revival, but i just got a 2oz sample of this in the mail. going to apply it sometime tomorrow.

Some quick questions, since the sample bottles arnt labeled to that specific product. Is this stuff blue and kinda smell like paint? 2oz should be plenty to do the whole car i believe. will be applying with a Porter cable orbital.

Do i need to let this cure for 8 hours before putting a coat or 2 of wax on top of it, or is it ok to do this before?

You shoudl get numeorus coats from 2oz if applied thin...your bottle should have a sticker in the box marked bwfd....but yea based on your description sounds correct.

Honestly, just put two coats of BFWD on to ensure coverage, and let it be! Forget the wax for now and enjoy BFWD it lasts long and looks amazing. Just prep your paint to a squeaky clean surface and you'll love it.

Deldran, the instructions suggest letting it cure for 8 hours between coats or before topping, so that's what I did and I think it worked well. 2 oz should be more than enough for a couple coats on one car.

i have used wolfgang sealant in the sample bottle and even if u put too much its really easy to buff out

and i think blackfire has the same thing but i never tried it
