A bleeding dog was taken to vet in this vehicle, the cloth seat is a mess. I was ask today the best way to clean this blood from seats. Any tips?

Make damn sure this is the case (Dog) or you could possibly be cleaning up a crime scene :bolt:

If it were me, I'd be breaking out the steamer and a large supply of MF towels.

And the color out of the fabric.

Not if you use the topical grade (3%) (the kind you use on cuts) It hasnt harmed anything I ever used it on but by all means test in an inconspicuious area first

How's the dog?

the dog did live, he says hes tried everything to remove the stain. I could try the steamer. I don't want to use anything to take the color out.
hydrogen peroxide will take blood out : I might mention this to the owner, he might try 50/50 mixture with water and try.

Anything with heat will tend to set the stain, you need an enzymatic cleaner to break down the enzymes in the blood.

If the owner has tried everything he may have already set the stain.

We have 3 dogs who like to kill things and bring them in the house (lol) so we get some hands on experience

Glad to hear the dog lived. The owner could try some clothes detergent that states it will get blood out but I would diliute it and try a test spot.

I have use Folex with great success... But Chemical Guys Lightning Fast Stain Extractor works REALLY well on fresh blood. I sliced my left thumb open from the palm of my hand to the tip of my thumb and left quite a blood trail from the kitchen to the bathroom on light beige carpet. I pre-treated with Lightening Fast and it disappeared as soon as I sprayed it on and left no residual stains.

ever heard of this product? Devour- a liquid enzymatic

The product is made by Streets, in doing research, read where lot of professionals us it.

Ive never heard of it but it sure sounds like its made for cleaning blood. I dont know what its effect would be on the cloth though

As GaryD mentions, Devour will remove blood pretty easily. I picked some up from a supplier of janitorial stuff (phenix is think) in Tampa, Fl about a year ago for bad smells to be removed with. So far it has helped remove a blood stain from my dog getting in my truck after getting a cut while playing, and has been used on a few coffee and food stains with success.

If you have any friends in law enforcement in your area ask them what company they use for cleaning the back seats of squad cars and/or crime scenes.

Then maybe you can contact that company and get some suggestions since they will specialize in bio-hazard cleaning.

I second the peroxide, then try Folex.

As a veterinarian I've removed quite a few dog blood stains from fabric over the last 35 years. I use hydrogen peroxide straight from the bottle. I have not seen fabric damaged by it yet, just be sure and use it liberally (you can always test an inconspicuous area). It usually bubbles as it oxidizes the blood. If it were a fresh stain I would clean most of the blood off with cold water, then use peroxide.
